Cloverfield is now available for digital download on three of the major video download services - Amazon Unbox ($14.99), iTunes ($14.99), CinemaNow ($19.95), and Movielink ($19.99).
I've used the Amazon Unbox service in the past and it works great and is easy to use, but you can buy the full DVD for the same price, so I'm not sure why anyone would do this. I assume the download price is for the movie only, so... you are paying the same price (or more), for less content?!?!? If it was $4.99, or even $9.99 it might make more sense...

Hidden Slusho
In TJ Miller's video diary, he points out a Slusho! hidden in the graffiti "for the fanboys - wha what?". I checked this scene out in the movie, and this section of the wall is not completely visible, but you can see the very edge of it, especially if you watch the 1080P HD version of this scene.
I wonder what other hidden Mickeys are waiting to be found?

IMDB has some behind-the-scenes photos from Cloverfield. Thanks to Nick S. for finding these! Who knew IMDB had any useful Cloverfield information? ;)
Cloverfield Ringtone and Monster Sounds
The code for the Cloverfield Ringtone, mentioned in my Cloverfield DVD Review, has been sent in by Mitchell. You can text US447 to 33287, or go directly to http://wap.paramount.mlogic3g.com/item.jsp?key=rt2_s3clo
The Sears/Kmart exclusive ringtone, titled "What Was That", is a mix of Marlena and monster roars. You can download an MP3 of the ringtone here.
The WhenCloverfieldHit.com site also had some great Cloverfield sounds, but I didn't realize the links were taken down when the contest ended. Fortunately, you can still downloaded them all directly:

Yahoo! Movies has the other alternate ending clip, which is different than the Spike TV alternate ending.
In this ending, the Coney Island ferris wheel scene is replaced with a shot of Beth running down the subway ramp.

More Cloverfield Interviews
Jefe: I have put many beautiful interviews in this post, each of them filled with little surprises.
El Guapo: Many interviews?
Jefe: Oh yes, many!
El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of interviews?
Jefe: Oh yes, you have a plethora.
Matt Reeves on Film.com: 'Cloverfield' Director Q&A: Less Nausea, More Love, Same Terrifying Monster
Matt Reeves on MTV.ca: 'Cloverfield' Secrets Revealed: Director Answers Your Burning Questions About The Monster Movie
TJ Miller on Movieweb.com: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: TJ Miller Talks Cloverfield
TJ Miller on MonstersAndCritics.com: M&C Interview: TJ Miller talks “Hud” and the Cloverfield monster
TJ Miller on 411Mania.com: 411 Movies Interview: TJ Miller of Cloverfield
Lizzy Caplan on 411Mania.com: 411 Movies Interview: Lizzy Caplan of Cloverfield
Last but not least, this next story is technically not an interview, but Matt Reeves is already in pre-production on his next movie - The Invisible Woman - which means that IF there is a Cloverfield sequel, and IF it is going to be directed by Matt Reeves, then it won't be made anytime soon. MissingTeddyHanssen - Crazy?
There is a new post at the Missing Teddy Hanssen blog:
* Thanks to Pwn Master Paladin for emailing me first!
* Thanks to Kingpinand Wolfgang for emailing about the update.
Having one of those days - those "stare at the ceiling" days. I feel like it would be really easy for me to go crazy right now. Just give in and go completely bats**t insane. Maybe I never even had a brother to begin with. He's always been lost.Alyse approved one comment on this new post:
I've lobbied, held fundraisers, and slept outside government buildings. Everyone I could think to call I called. I have everyone's pity. But there's always more to do. The growth of people is great but I can't sort through all these theories. I don't know what to believe anymore. Everyone thinks they know. But no one knows for sure where Teddy is, do they? No one is honestly doing anything to bring him back. The attention is great - but people could care less whether he actually comes back or not.
Why isn't anything happening? Why am I in the exact same place I was 4 months ago? Why won't anybody tell me what's going on? What do I have to do to get the truth?????
I've gotta make more calls. It's part of being a crazy person. You don't ever stop.
Anonymous said...UPDATE: Alyse left a new comment for Anonymous:
You'll notice one of the files is missing. That's where your prayers will be answered. Now please stop.
Anonymous -Not sure what a GX file is, unless it's an unusual abbreviation for graphics. We also don't know of any in-game sites that require a username AND password, just JamieAndTeddy.com which only requires a password. Is there a new site we are missing, or should we be looking for missing graphics somewhere?
I'm sorry but I have no other way to contact you so it has to be this way because I found the missing gx file, but you didn't give me a user name or password!

Cloverfield DVD Buyers Guide
Here is a first hand look at some of the Cloverfield DVD Editions. Hopefully this will clear up some rumors.
First up is the Suncoast/F.Y.E./HMV SteelBook edition. The case is very cool, and the smashed effect is embossed into the steel cover. Inside the SteelBook cover is a clear plastic liner, which underneath is an extra-wide Statue Of Liberty NY skyline shot. The actual DVD inside is exactly that same as in all the other versions, including all the special features mentioned in my DVD review, it just doesn't come with any "extras", aside from the cool cover. The marked price was $26.99, but it rang up at $21.59 plus there is a $5.00 rebate, which will bring the total price to $16.59! If you don't care about extras, this is the one to get. Grade: A
The Target "Deluxe" edition is a little bit of a trick.
I don't appreciate your ruse, ma'am.
I beg your pardon?
Your ruse. Your cunning attempt to trick me.
The exclusive "cover" is really just a piece cardboard shrinkwrapped the the front of a standard Cloverfield DVD. Shrinkwrapped to the back is the "Rob's Goin' to Japan Party Mix" CD. Considering the $22.99 price, your are basically paying $8.00 for nine songs. Mark sent in this photo of the inside of the CD case, with the faux-handwritten label, which I'll admit is pretty cool. Grade: B-
Last up is the Best Buy edition, with the exclusive 30 minute TJ Miller DVD. The Cloverfield DVD is standard issue, with the bonus disc in a plain white paper sleeve shrinkwrapped to the back. Not all of the DVDs at Best Buy have this, so make sure you check the back, or look for the "Bonus Disc" sticker on the front. These are usually placed in the middle of the store on a seperate display, so ask for it specifically when you go. Unlike Target, there is no additional charge for the bonus edition, but these are very limited, so don't wait until the weekend to get one. I haven't watched the bonus disc yet, but based on the preview clip and the $15.99 price, I think this would also be a good choice. Grade B+
UPDATE: Jason Sharman sent in these pictures from the Canadian Best Buy version. A cardboard sleeve fits over the TJ Miller edition seen above. I'm not sure why they didn't do this in the US, but it is probably a-boot needing everything in English and French. The price is $22.99 CAN, which is only $3.00 more than the standard version.
I almost forgot that Kmart/Sears is giving away a free Cloverfield Ringtone with purchase. I'm not sure why anyone would get this over any of the other extras, when there are some many other places to get Cloverfield ringtones for free, including:
• The Slusho WAP website
• The CloverfieldClues Slusho! Ringtones post
• Free monster sounds from WhenCloverfieldHit.com
If anyone did buy this version, please email me what the back of the sticker says. Thanks!
Borders has a "30 page book with production stuff and a lot of cool pictures", according to Flea, who sent in these pictures. The Borders edition will run you $21.
Lawsae Aquino sent in these additional photos from the Borders website.
