Spike.com has an exclusive video of one of Cloverfield's alternate endings. The difference in this ending is about seven seconds of additional footage. You'll have to wait for the DVD to hear Matt Reeves commentary on the matter.

I'd say the face is whoever found the video in Central Park - you know, like some army dude.

I Love the commentary of the movie especially near the end when Matt talks about the "I saw it it's alive it's huge" when people were saying stuff like "i saw it it's a LION it's huge"
ReplyDeleteIf its someone finding the camera what happened to it? The glass was damaged but not the actual lense? But then why is the tear or hole black? Should it be seen through?

It's not a hole. It's dirt. If you click on the pic so it's enlarged it really looks like dirt/debris of some kind.

wait, was that a bomb that fell right in front of the camera before the second explosion at the end? i never noticed it before but it made a metal sound. how did it get under the bridge?

ReplyDeleteThe first time i saw it....... i have the good quality version on my computer...... i thought it was rob. maybe after the explosion that supposidly "kills" them..... the camera is still on and he goes to grab it.

It wasn't a bomb that fell on top of the camera. Not at all. It was a bunch of rubble that fell from the collapsing bridge due to the shockwave emitted from the bombing explosion(s).
ReplyDeleteIf you listen closely, you'll notice the sound of jackhammers right before the face with the light appears. The face with the light is most definitely the person who found the camera. Beth yelling "Rob!" could possibly mean that she survived where as Rob didn't. The splashdown isn't in this version, at least that I can see.

Hey did you notice that the word "saturn" is on the yellow rail in the split-second scene with the girl at the amusement park? I wonder if that means anything...
ReplyDeleteDidnt you guys check out the other bonus stuff. They said it was a guy who was cleaning the camera and they threw it in so that we all could do what you have been doing....speculate as to whether or not it was an army guy, rob, etc.
