Tagruato.jp

A new website was discovered by MrToasty at Unfiction - Tagruato.jp. Here is how it was found:

The last ingredient in the Japanese recipe is "Kaitei no mitsu" which translates to "deep sea nectar/honey". Dr. Awkward at Unfiction did a Google search for it and only one page came up, a restaurant review by "deliciousmacdoob" on Menuism.com. The unusual review mentions the source of the "Seabed’s Nectar" which the chef claims came from a company in Honshu, Japan called Tagruato. Using that info, MrToasty discovered Tagruato.jp.

On the site, there are some definite ties to Slusho:
  • Ganu Yoshida is the CEO (he's also mentioned in the Slusho.jp history)
  • Slusho! is one of the subsidiary companies
  • There are various mentions of Slusho throughout the site
  • One of the subsidiaries is Bold Futura. Anyone remember that name? It came up in the discussion about "Overnight" being the name of the movie. The owner of the US trademark for Slusho! is Bold Futura, LLC.
The most interesting section is the Deep Sea Drilling, which shows an interactive map of the various locations around the world, all named after Japanese Emperors.

The newest station, Chuai, opening in September 2007, is also the closest station to New York. Could deep sea drilling be what disturbed the monster and caused the attack?

The site is pretty big, with a lot of information to look at, so have a peek and let me know what you find!

* Thanks to MrToasty for emailing me about this first!

1-18-08.com - Photo #6 - Deep Sea Nectar

A new photo was added to 1-18-08.com today*. On the front is a Japanese chef pulling something that looks like a pizza out of a freezer. Also in the picture is a red blender.

On the back, there is a recipe written in Japanese:

Thank you for checking us out! We are Introducing this week's tasty one dish. Make sure you eat it cold!
  • Skinless chicken breast - 2, cut in halves
  • Sōmen noodles - 10 oz.
  • Watercress - 1/2 cup cut into small strips
  • Turnip - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
  • Shiitake Mushrooms - 1/2 cup
  • Chicken stock - 1/3 cup
  • Sake - 2 tbsp.
  • Sugar - 1/2 tsp.
  • Deep Sea Nectar - 1 pinch
In a small saucepan, stir together 1/3 cup water, chicken stock, sake, and sugar. Chill it until it becomes cold. Grill the chicken breast on both sides for about 8 minutes, and then chill. Boil the noodles for about 3 minutes, and then run under cold water until chilled. Mix the watercress, radish, and mushrooms into the sōmen. Slice the chicken thinly and arrange on top of the sōmen mix. Just before you serve, put the deep sea nectar in the sauce and pour over the noodles generously.

Go Go Delicious Chef!

UPDATE: the link above is to our mirror of the original 1-18-08 site. DO NOT go to the original 1-18-08 website anymore. The domain expired and is no longer controlled by Paramount, and someone else snatched it up to run ads with malware.

UPDATE: I have updated the recipe to a more accurate translation by Lasher at Unfiction. The original translation by Hinoai from Unfiction is here.

It turns out not to be deep sea crab, but instead it is deep sea nectar/honey, which sounds like the mysterious deep sea ingredient used in Slusho!

I found the food processor in the photo. It is the Robot Coupe food processor!

* Special thanks to Anthony Navarro for being the first person to email me about this!

Myspace Update - HUD

HUD has added a new comic-related blog entry. He has selected the comic book characters that he wants to use, and now is ready to collectively write a story:
Gather ’round the campfire, kiddies! It’s time to write a story!

If you're one of the like seven super cool people in the world who have been paying attention to my blog, you know that I'm trying to get an interactive, comic book-esque story going with characters created by independent Myspace artists. I've gotten a pretty good response, and I think we've fielded enough characters to begin our story.

Here's the cast: Statik, Captain Anonymous (maybe we can come up with a name for him in the story), I've dubbed these three Vang, Gustav Grosto, and Spiggot, Koffy, ENDOMAN the Dreamtraveller, X-73, Behemoth

Here's how it's gonna work: I'll begin the story, and then it will up to one of you to add on a little bit more, and then the next person, and so on. If you want to post pics of new characters, we'll weave them in.

And so it begins...

"What the hell is that?"
"What?"
"That... thing, floating up ahead. Do you see it?"
Gustav shrugs. "Probably just a discarded fuel casing."
"That is not a fuel casing," scoffs Spiggot. He adjusts the trajectory controls on the zeppelins the main board. "I'm soaring in for a closer look."
"Don't even think about it," warns Gustav. "We have a very specific mission, and it does not include picking up random bits of junk floating around the atmosphere. If Vang finds out you're changing course--"
"Vang is in deep slumber mode, she's not gonna find out. Just chill out and get the Arm ready."
The zeppelin approaches the object. Spiggot squints out into the dark cloudy sky. "Whoa... Gustav, I think it's a person!"
It is a person, just hanging in the air, motionless, as if they were lying on some unseen blanket. "H-how can that be?" says Gustav, astonished. "They're just… floating in mid-air, three thousand feet up?"
"They look dead. Don't you think?"
"Only one way to make sure," replies Gustav, already swinging the Extraction Arm out to retrieve the floating body.
Gustav and Spiggot rush to the cargo bay as the Arm gently lays the figure down. They stop short with a surprised gasp.
"It's a woman!" sputters Spiggot. "And she's really hot!"
The unconscious form before them is a beautiful woman, blonde, dressed in futuristic battle gear. A tag on her shoulder reads 'X-73'. Gustav rushes to her side and presses his fingers to her neck. "Nothing. No pulse. I think she's—"
Just then, the woman springs gracefully to her feet, simultaneously slamming Gustav to the ground with her super strong legs. A large, terrifying Blaster forms out of her wrist holster, and she presses it to Gustav's throat.
"Where is he?" she demands of Spiggot.
Spiggot holds up his hands, at a loss.
"Where is Behemoth?"

OK, that's it. Who's got the next page?
Meanwhile, Rob left a comment for HUD:

Rob Hawkins - Sep 26 2007 6:04P

That's pretty cool, what you are doing with people's comic book characters. Am I allowed to play, or do am I still banned from the discussion until I read The Watchmen?

It's Cloverfield Spoof Week!

I officially declare this week CLOVERFIELD SPOOF WEEK!

Over the last few days, Unfiction was smothered in hoaxes, including these FAKE posters allegedly from the UK:

And now there's a FAKE 1-18-08 movie trailer!

You can see from this screen shot of the REAL trailer, the NY1 graphics are all wrong:

* the spacing is bad, especially around the time and "breaking news"

* the fonts are the wrong typeface (especially the 69°, and the 1 in NY1)

* the blue colors don't match

* the yellow borders shouldn't go under "breaking news"

Not to mention the bad acting. But an "A" for effort though!

In honor of SPOOF WEEK, send me your spoofs! Think you can do better? Show me what you got! This is a limited time offer! One week only (or until we get some actual Cloverfield news)! Void where prohibited!

UPDATE: Here is another FAKE trailer. This one combines the original trailer, with footage from the I AM LEGEND trailer.

Here's a tip for anyone else making a fake trailer. The next real official trailer will probably include the actual title of the movie. Since we don't know what that is yet, just make one up. ;)

... and here are some more FAKE posters!

Jamie and HUD in the trailer?

Most of our MySpace 7 can also be seen in the official 1-18-08 trailer, but until now I haven't really noticed Jamie or HUD.

zennie62 from Unfiction thinks this might be Jamie - and I think that might be HUD with her. Here is a picture of HUD for comparison. Or could he be the mysterious Teddy Hanssen?

Click the image above to see it full-size and let me know what you think.

POLL RESULTS: Is that Jamie and HUD?

MyNumber1Vid Transcript

Here is the transcript for Jamie's video:

Jamie: Seriously? How the heck do you get this stupid thing to work. It's recording..
Hey babe, It's Jamie and I just wanna let you know that this is probably one of the many many video messages you'll be getting from me, while you're away on your trip. And, I don't know, I just figure it would be a really good way for you to see my gorgeous face whenever you want.

And I know you've only been gone a day, but I couldn't resist telling you how much I love you and how much our last night together was amazing. It was pretty "ridic". And I don't know, I miss you so much, I got your voice message earlier and it was really good to hear your voice.

I just, it was weird. I was just talking to Marlena about you, and she sucks at talking about stuff like this. She's so negative, but she said
"The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else". But I don't want to get under anyone else but you, and you know that, so... and plus everyone knows that I'm a top girl, so you don't have to worry about that.

Anyway, I can't wait to talk to you tomorrow and I just miss you, you know, I miss you like the sky misses the flowers, or is it the stars miss the sky? Whatever. I love you babe.

Oh! And don't show anyone these videos. I swear to god, if this ends up on the internet, I will kill you.
Jamie: I'm done
Marlena [off camera]: How did it go?
Jamie: Good. I think. Do you have anymore of those Cranberry pills?
Marlena [off camera]: Yeah, why? What's up?
Jamie: I'm getting another bladder infection.

Tomayer emailed me to let me know that Jamie's quote is similar to a quote from the movie "A Knights Tale":
I miss you like the sun misses the flowers, like the sun misses the flowers in the depths of winter, instead of beauty to direct it's light to, the heart hardens like the frozen world which your absence has banished me to.

-- William in "A Knight's Tale"

JamieAndTeddy.com

A new website was found today, JamieAndTeddy.com, based on clues from Jamie's MySpace page, and comments by LenaDia.

In Jamie's previous post, she mentioned a Teddy Hanssen and how she missed him.

At 5:12P on Sept 10th, she left a message for LenaDia:
Hey girl! Well that certainly got his attention. Teddy-bear called me each of the last three days, and each time we've ended up talking for like 3 hours. I miss the man behind the voice! He says he already watched it ten times and demanded more! Such a sweetie!
LenaDia left her a message two minutes later:
I'm glad it worked for you, honey. I knew if he could just bear witness to your hotness, he'd never stray. Though I still don't think you should have to work so hard.

Out of the blue, Nenya from Unfiction found JamieAndTeddy.com. On the site is the bear picture, and the following message:
Just for you Teddy-bear! I miss ya like CRAZY already!!!Love, your Lil' Lascano
Clicking on the picture takes you to a login page. Crazyover11808 found the password: jllovesth (awwww, how sweet) which take you to a video download page "for my baby".

You can download the video directly here (QT - 18MB), or check it out on YouTube here.

UPDATE:
Hawk also has a new post today - another Fantasy Football request :|
AP, the week 2 version

What up, thanks to all my Purple warriors for the fantasy advice.

I need you again! Anyone have the inside word on Chester Taylor's hip injury? AP BLEW UP week 1, he looked amazing. But Childress still claims CT is the starter. I don't know how long that can last, but that's not what I want to hear as a fantasy owner.

Are they saying CT will play, be limited, be out, any news?

Thanks.

MySpace Updates - Hud and Beth

There was a bunch of MySpace updates today...

New post from Hud:

Calling all comic book artists!

Have you created a comic book character? Post them here! Maybe we can make some sort of story with them all.

BTW, Hud's current reading selection is Avengers: The Ultimate Guide.

New post from Beth:

You know what else would be in my hell?

Madden Football video games! I'm sorry boys, but its stupid and you spend way too much time on it!

MySpace Comments:

Sep 5 2007 11:50A - Beth (to Lil) - Hey what are you up to this weekend? I really need to get some shopping done. I need a new bag and something to wear to my cousin's wedding.

Sep 5 2007 11:58A - Lil (to Beth) - That's so funny, I was going to ask you the same thing. How's Satuday morning? Just call me when you get out of work, I have to talk to you about something.

Sep 5 2007 12:04P - LenaDia (to Jamie) - No, you cannot make chicken nuggets in the mircrowave. You really need to get out of your apartment.

Sep 5 2007 12:09P - Jamie (to Rob) - Next time you see your brother? Tell him he's an insensitive asshole.

Hawk's MySpace Update

Looks like another fantasy football post from Hawk. This time he's looking for advice about Adrian Peterson, rookie running back for the Minnesota Vikings:

I have a few questions for all my fellow Minnesotians still living in the gopher state. Here in NYC, I don't get the solid day to day Vikes reporting that I get back home. How big of a role is AP expected to play? Will he be splitting with Chester Taylor, or are they just leaving Taylor as the starter and working AP in on third downs. Is he pegged for goaline carries? Is he at least above Mewelde Moore on the depth chart?

Also, what about Bobby Wade? Is he looking like a solid 1 wide out? Has he been developing a good connection with Jackson?

I need to know for both Vikes fan and fantasy team purposes... Thanks

Here are some of the people mentioned in the post:
What do we learn from this post? Well, we now know that Hawk is from Minnesota and he's a Vikings fan.

UPDATE: If you want to know more about the actor playing Hawk, check out Mike-Vogel.com and MySpace.com/MikeVogelOfficial

* Thanks to Joe for the Mike Vogel tip!

JJ Abrams' Robot Shirt Found!

Malemunyon at Unfiction has found the origin of the mysterious Robot shirt.

It looks like the text underneath the robots reads "GIANT ROBOT". Giant Robot is a bi-monthly magazine of Asian and Asian American popular culture. While they currently don't have this shirt for sale in their store, a similar design can be found at Polar Panda.

No one still seems to be 100% sure what the robots are, but it looks like it may be Transformers after all, based on this ad found by mixedtapex16.

To celebrate the find, I have put all the Slusho Robots shirts on SALE.
