It's Cloverfield Spoof Week!

I officially declare this week CLOVERFIELD SPOOF WEEK!

Over the last few days, Unfiction was smothered in hoaxes, including these FAKE posters allegedly from the UK:

And now there's a FAKE 1-18-08 movie trailer!

You can see from this screen shot of the REAL trailer, the NY1 graphics are all wrong:

* the spacing is bad, especially around the time and "breaking news"

* the fonts are the wrong typeface (especially the 69°, and the 1 in NY1)

* the blue colors don't match

* the yellow borders shouldn't go under "breaking news"

Not to mention the bad acting. But an "A" for effort though!

In honor of SPOOF WEEK, send me your spoofs! Think you can do better? Show me what you got! This is a limited time offer! One week only (or until we get some actual Cloverfield news)! Void where prohibited!

UPDATE: Here is another FAKE trailer. This one combines the original trailer, with footage from the I AM LEGEND trailer.

Here's a tip for anyone else making a fake trailer. The next real official trailer will probably include the actual title of the movie. Since we don't know what that is yet, just make one up. ;)

... and here are some more FAKE posters!

  1. not to mention the terrible "white noise" or static, or whatever you want to call it.

    and yeah, BAD acting

  2. i think the static is on purpose, as in bad reception.

  3. wake me up when some news comes up

  4. I know it's there on purpose

it just looks really bad, like very half-assed static.

essentially i'm saying their production values to make some look like it has minimal production values.... suck

  5. They definitely get an A for effort. It wasn't that bad, it was just... fake.

  6. The scenery during the interview is very good and looks similar to the downtown Manhattan shooting footage.
But the splicing of the explosion from the original trailer with fireworks doesn't make it. What is up with the actual advertisement on the red bus? Why would someone spend money for false advertising on a bus when the premise is still 1/18/08? It doesn't seem to show anything pertaining to what we have seen as fakes, ie; the hand, the giant shadow etc...Is that a picture of an explosion or a slide of a tissue sample?????

  7. LLG,

The fake ad wasn't really on the bus. It was just photoshopped on there.

I'm not really sure what that image is supposed to be, or why they would change the color scheme from the poster (to match the bus??), but you can see a bigger version here.

  9. Hmmm... I watched the trailer on the apple site and right when the SOL head hits the 401 broadway sign i think theres a new sound added. It sounds like a cuckoo clock... no joke... I listened to it like 20 times... unless I'm goin' cuckoo for cloverfield?! But check it out its there...

  10. LOL! Joe!
You are right! ... Also, there's a sound like a clock-alarm when the guy yells, "I saw it. It's alive and it's huge!" On the original audio files I got, it's a car alarm, and no cuckoo sound at all.
    Interesting.

  11. I listened to the audio files from last month, and the same sounds are there as now. I don't know why I hadn't noticed them before.

There's also the sound of a kitten mewing in between the broken up audio as the cast is running down the stairs. And someone off camera yells, "Godzilla!"

Joe, there's no cuckoo sound. If you listen to all 6 audio channels mixed down to stereo, it's hard to make out a lot of things. However, if you listen to each of the 6 tracks individually, you can "hear" much more detail.

I have all of the individual audio tracks from the trailer available for download if you click here.

  14. all the comments are good but heres wat i know....during the trailer i saw that the army was shooting something, suddenly i saw this big(huge) thing going behind a biulding. i also know that the shout was similar to godzilla's.
now here this, producer j.j abrams is a fan of godzilla, so im thinking that he must of taken the idea of godzilla to make the movie.
