An anonymous tipster from Denmark sent me this advanced look at the artwork for the Danish Cloverfield DVD release.
Although I don't speak Danish, it's not hard to translate the extras:
- Extra Materials
- Trailers
- Exclusive Bonus? Material
- 10 Deleted Scenes
That looks fake. It doesn't look real, at all. You can find this kind of cheap photoshop work at sites like VG boxart and other photoshop vector/render sites. Besides, no one would reveal an advanced copy of a DVD boxart months before its release. No offense, but I could make a better boxart in Photoshop that this. No offense, but it just looks a bit off. This is not the real thing.
ReplyDeleteOne very good reason why this is fake. The disk says that the copyright date is 2007 not 2008. An obvious flaw in this so-called Cloverfield DVD.
ReplyDeletelooks good. be it the real deal?
ReplyDeletei really liked the metal box cover!!
ReplyDeleteAs this looks fake and really would ruin the DVD, I'm going to really hope this isn't real - the box one looks better and keeps the military feel of the film.
ReplyDeleteall the images in this are freely available on the internet....looks fake to me
ReplyDeleteand i doubt they'd use that image for the CD art
BTW, I believe the "metal box" cover is an HMV exclusive design.
ReplyDeleteYou all can doubt if you want. I'm not sure what you think it should look like, but it looks good enough to me, at least for a "standard" version. I just hope this doesn't end up like the Transformers DVDs, where different stores have "exclusive" editions that you can only get at that store. Uggh.
HMV dod do exclusives, but normally just a card cover with the same cover as the rest.
ReplyDeleteI'm no DVD expert, but would a disk not have the title on? Do the special feature bit look like a Word text box? And do they look badly photoshopped.
I imagined it like the box - I doubt this is real.
It could be real, it could be fake. No matter what it looks pretty sweet. I like the metal box design but this one will be more recognizable on store shelves. It could be fan made though. The DVD itself kinda looks cheesy. I don't think that will be the final version of it if it's real. That's not the best image they could use. They should make the DVD look like official government property or better yet, like a home made DVD. Both would be pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteok.. the transformers dvd fiasco.. I picked up the best buy one with the toys.. but it got out of hand.. a prequel from walmart a transforming one from target.. . GAHH!!
ReplyDeletei wholeheartedly agree with you dennis.. they need to not release 65 different versions of this when it comes out.
wow.. a long rambling post!
Obviously a fake and a bad looking one ... it looks too simple, and the big proof is that it dont have any "Bad Robot" Logo's on it .
ReplyDeleteBusted ~
It's fake because of one obvious reason, the copyright date is wrong. It would have to be 2008 not 2007. It also looks like a bad photoshop cover. And wasn't the Statue of Liberty render on the back-cover of the DVD used in one of the fake 1-18-08 posters from a while back? ;)
ReplyDeleteF A K E
While the cover art is ho-hum ... I do not think it a 'fake.' The copyright on the disk itself is for the image used (and the name: Cloverfield). The copyright on the back of the box is 2008. Also, there's a DreamWorks logo! (Who would have thought to do that if it was a fake?)
ReplyDeleteDreamworks? Oh noes! What happened to Paramount? xD
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Blacksite09, imo this looks an awful loot like a fake, If the guy who made this had put 30min more into it it would easily have tricked anyone, as it is now, it just brings up questionmarks (like why the text on the side isnt blurred out like the original title, or why the backside looks like total crap! :P)
ReplyDeleteIf this however, turns out to be the real deal. They should have hired someone else to do it ;)
look at the statue of liberty on the back....a bad photoshop
ReplyDeleteit has the head missing but the whole body is intact. No sign of where the claws have ripped a huge gap in the body like there is on the cloverfield poster.
Paramount would at least give it's cover designers good images to work with rather than production stills and a statue of liberty with a goof on it.
-ras - If I was to make a fake, I'd make it so everything looked real.
ReplyDelete**The DreamWorks Logo is just under the Paramount logo to the left of the PAL stamp on the back of the box.**
ReplyDeleteHowever, this HAS to be a fake, for the sole reason that there's no Bad Robot logo anywhere to be seen!!!
XP
Fake.
ReplyDeleteI just reserved my copy of the Cloverfield Steelbook edition from my local FYE. It will have the same look that the HMV site revealed. I will be picking it up on April 22nd. =]
Also, usually on DVD covers they include photos from the MOVIE, not production photos as in the DVD and the scene of Rob and Beth with the camcorder. C'mon folks.
ReplyDeleteBest Buy has the release date as April 22nd.
ReplyDeleteCloverfield[Widescreen Dubbed Subtitle AC3] - DVD
No image yet. They have a preorder thing but i'm gonna wait to see if they have a two disk edition coming out soon afterwards.
clifton - do you know that it isn't two disk? I'd buy both anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnd does anyone still think this hoax is real...just curious.
... the copyright says '2007'. I think that's all we need to assume this's a fake.
ReplyDeleteJust saw this bulletin on the ol' myspace thing

10 Deleted Scenes? What makes them so special to get 6 more? (Not including Alt Endings)
