Cloverfield DVD Release Date in UK

The Cloverfield DVD will be released in the UK on June 9th, according to Amazon.co.uk. The UK's HMV.com has a picture of the DVD cover, which looks like a smashed metal box.

The US release date still looks like it will be April 22, according to the DeepDiscountDVD.com website and various other reports, but still no update on Amazon.com.

  1. Is it just me or does it look like it says May 22 on the DVD box? Of course that would be because that's the date the monster came.

Yes. There are seven different 'news' videos that came out in early January. You can see them all here:

Chuai Station News Videos - German, Italian, Spanish, French

More Chuai Station News Videos - English, Russian, and Japanese

  5. In the Chuai station news, in the beginning of the french one you can hear the monsters roar as it begins to fall apart, also u can see what looks like the station shooting into the water. ALSO in the end as there leaving a ship on the boat, u can hear another monster roar that sounds like the cloverfield one.

  6. Well, after looking at this stuff again, there's more to it than the date.

The box looks like it has been taken from a military base - something me and my friends said would be cool after seeing the film.

Still, I think the best thing story-wise to do would be to not release it on DVD, but that wouldn't make money.

  7. why shouldn't it go to DVD Master Fetty?

  8. Becuase it would keep the film with mystery - when the DVD's out, the monster will be able to be seen in action over and over again and the film would loose it's enigmatic nature.

It's just my view, but I'd prefer it to have just been in cinemas (and not have a sequel).

  9. I really want a sequel with all the professional Hollywood shots and what not so we could find out more about this monster. With that knowledge they would be open to making numerous sequels after.

  10. Well I don't want to have a Hollywood style sequel (I'd prefer no sequel). It'd ruin everything the first one stood for.

  11. There is no need for a Hollywood style sequel. If there is a sequel, keep it in the same format. Why does everyone NEED that all-knowing person in movies to tell you everything that happened? That isn't life. A friend of mine dies after going on a solo hiking trip. No one knows why and all we know is that something attacked him based on his documentation. Then a random dude pops out and tells me that he was attacking by a vicious beast that likes to feed on males between the ages of 21 and 40 with blonde hair, green eyes, and a beer gut. No. It doesn't happen.

I like your thinking on the no-DVD, however it just wouldn't go over well. And personally, I want to see it and own it. Theaters won't keep a movie forever, and I want to watch it repeatedly.

    I'm stoked for this.
