Life Preserving Information Update - Survival Simulation Research

There is a new entry on the Life Preserving Information page on the FunAndPrettyThings website.

In the latest update, Howard tells Megan that he had made more changes to the Survival Simulation game, adding a "research" job that will help extend supplies.

Each successful research job performed will give a boost to your health, moral, or one of your resources.

UPDATE: Someone has already broken 1000 days with this new update, and Howard has already noticed, and posted another update:

I'll start compiling the research here, if you see anything new, post it in the comments.

Life Preserving Information Page Updated - Keep Trying

There was a new update to the Life Preserving Information page on the FunAndPrettyThings website.

The latest entry suggests that Howard has made changes to the Survival Simulation game, to make it harder to play with only one player. Maybe the key to "winning" (if that's even possible) requires two people in the bunker, and they need to survive at least two years.

ObFuSc8 from UnFiction has a great summary of the rules, and tips for making your supplies last. He is working on an "ideal" list of supplies. Once that is available, we'll post it here so everyone can work on breaking the two-year mark.

Life Preserving Information Page Updated - Radiogirl Posts High Score

There was a new update to the Life Preserving Information page on the FunAndPrettyThings website.
RADIOGIRL, YOU’RE THERE! I CAN SEE THAT YOU’RE USING THE SIMULATOR. I WAS BEGINNING TO WORRY THAT YOU REALLY HADN’T SEEN ANY OF MY MESSAGES. BUT NOW THAT I KNOW YOU’RE LISTENING, I’M NOT GOING TO REST UNTIL I KNOW YOU’RE PREPARED.

I KNOW THAT YOU’RE SEEING SOME WEIRD RESULTS IN THE SIMULATOR. I MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT OFFLINE IF I CAN’T FIX IT, BUT I HOPE IT DOESN’T COME TO THAT. THERE’S NO TIME TO WASTE, AND THE SIMULATOR IS GOING TO TEACH YOU SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT.
If you run the simulator, and pull up the stats, you will see an entry for Radiogirl, which this latest message from Howard confirms.

The "weird results" Howard mentions is probably from people at Reddit hacking the game. I guess this is a subtle warning that Howard may take the game down if that continues...

UPDATE: according to one of the Reddit hackers the game "has been updated and the exploit that allowed for people to send in fake scores and messages has been fixed."

FunAndPrettyThings.com Survival Simulation

There was a new update to the Life Preserving Information page on the FunAndPrettyThings website.
LIFE INSIDE A BUNKER IS GOING TO BE A CHALLENGE. ESPECIALLY SINCE WE MAY HAVE TO STAY DOWN THERE FOR A FEW YEARS. IT’S IMPORTANT TO BE PREPARED – NOT JUST WITH SUPPLIES AND GEAR, BUT WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT TO DO ONCE YOU’RE DOWN THERE. IT’S GOING TO BE A DIFFERENT KIND OF LIVING,WITH NO ROOM FOR MISTAKES.

I MADE SOMETHING TO HELP YOU GET READY. IT MAY JUST FEEL LIKE A LITTLE GAME, BUT IT CONTAINS A LOT OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO HELP YOU LEARN WHAT IT’LL TAKE TO SURVIVE.

I HOPE YOU LEARN QUICKLY FROM IT.

LOVE,

DAD
Heading to the link takes you to a text-based survival simulation game, where you can practice living in a bunker to see how long you can survive. I lasted 216 days on my first try.

Life Preserving Information on FAPT Updated

The Life Preserving Information page at FAPT was updated by Howard at some point in the last few days, telling Megan to forget about taking a train, due to a real news article about a train track fire in New Orleans.

Here is the full text of the recent update
MEGAN THIS IS WHY I SAY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE AWARE OF WHATS HAPPENING AROUND YOU. LOOK:
http://www.nola.com/traffic/index.ssf/2016/02/train_track_fire_disrupts_amtr.html

SO FORGET THE TRAIN. YOU’RE BETTER OFF DRIVING ANYWAY. THAT WAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE AN ESCAPE ROUTE AND CAN’T GET BACKED INTO A CORNER. IT’S ALWAYS BETTER TO BE IN CONTROL OF YOUR OWN MOVEMENTS.

BUT YOU’RE GOING TO NEED TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A CAR. YOUR MOM’S OR SOMEONE ELSE’S.

AND YOU’RE GOING TO NEED TO HURRY.
