Waking Clovie: Recent Updates on 4th Installment & Slusho Website

 We are back! There has been enough recent news that it was worth of bringing the blog back...

First off, original director Matt Reeves has confirmed that a fourth installment of the Cloverfield franchise is in the works, serving as a sequel to the first Cloverfield movie. Sources told Deadline that director Babak Anvari and writer Joe Barton are attached to the project, with J.J. Abrams producing alongside Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen while Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves, and Drew Goddard are executive producing. The current WGA writers strike is most likely causing this project to be on hold until that dispute is settled.

In addition to the movie news, a new trademark for Slusho! was filed on March 1st of this year. You can find the details of the filing at the bottom of this page: https://trademarks.justia.com/owners/bold-futura-llc-1432956/

Lastly, a new website at slusho.com was recently discovered by reddit user /u/EliteFreakozoid over at /r/Cloververse on April 4th. While it hasn't been confirmed as an official site, the fact that it was registered around the same time as the original slusho.jp has given fans hope. Be sure to join the subreddit and the discord to stay up-to-date on the latest rumors and theories.

While these updates are exciting, we want to keep expectations managed. We don't have too many details about the upcoming movie just yet, and the Slusho website may not be official. However, we'll be sure to keep you posted as more information unfolds.

Since our initial article on 04182028.com, the site was updates numerous times during the ARG. The following will be all the updates to the site in chronological order, starting with the discovery of the site. To find out more about how the entire ARG progressed, check out reddit user u/blueonred, who helpfully created a whole thread outlining it. The Youtube channel 'Cloververse' has also collected all the videos from the Cloverfield movies ARGs spanning 2007-present. All videos seen and connected with 04182028 are available there.

01/24/18

04182028.com is updated with a new video. The visual aspect is still mostly distorted, with a few new frames of the figure visible in video 1.

The transcript for the video seemed to be a news broadcaster:

"Welcome to the show... Cloverfield Station...joining us today...controversy... Mark Stambler, author of the book..."

01/27/18

This update to 04182028.com welcomed a new video with cleaner audio. The same figure that was in videos 1 & 2 (the consensus being that this IS Mark Stambler) is seen more consistently.

The transcript for the video:

"Woman (interviewer): Your thoughts, Professor Mark Stambler?

Mark Stambler: ... because of Tagruato... Everything that's happened, I was right. The CEI was a lie, just like I predicted in my book, the Clover-"

CEI we know is in reference to the Cloverfield Energy Initiative, that was printed on official Tagruato brochures included in the delivery of the Slusho! Truck bobbleheads.


01/30/18

04182028.com is updated once again. These updated have been coming frequently and fast, living little time to absorb information fully before the next update is flung upon us. This new video seems to suggest someone talking about a social media hoax. It mentions a location and a lamp. The transcript reads:

"... This is a social media hoax... social medium, my email...why does this have to happen again... third floor, by the lamp."

The trailer for The Cloverfield Paradox premieres at the Super Bowl, and in a massive twist the movie is released after the games ends on Netflix. 04182028.com is also updated. In the newest video, Mark Stambler (who is being interviewed by the woman we heard in earlier videos) reveals his book, titled 'The Cloverfield Paradox'.

During The Cloverfield Paradox, the distorted videos we have been seeing finally
come together in a scene taking place aboard the Shepard.

Mark Stambler is being interviewed live and we finally get to see the complete video, with proper audio and visual quality.

The interview is often cut away from or spoken over in the film, but the transcript for the interview seems to read:

Woman: Another test aboard the Cloverfield Space Station. The 47th test in just over two years is scheduled for 8:00am Eastern Standard Time. All eyes are on--

Mark Stambler: Right this minute, they are testing a particle accelerator up there, so we can learn how to make unlimited energy down here. But those who have accepted the

Woman: Why does this accelerator worry you so much? 
Mark Stambler: Because that accelerator is 1000 times more powerful than any ever built. Every time they test it, they risk ripping open the membrane of space time, smashing together multiple dimensions, shattering reality. And not just on that station, everywhere. Suzanne Cryer, also newswoman in The Cloverfield Paradox

Note some small and interesting points in the scene:

- The woman interviewing Mark Stambler is actress Suzanne Cryer, who played the woman trying to get into the bunker in 10 Cloverfield Lane.


- The @Paradox_Is_Real account (that is seen under Mark Stambler on the screen in the movie) is real account on Twitter, created in January 2018. Currently there is no content on the page. The official Cloverfield Paradox twitter page recently tweeted this in reply to Chris O'Dowd (one of the actors in TCP)-

Hinting at the fact that this is either a still more of the ARG still to come, or a cheeky wink to the audience and ARG players. This is where 04182028 has led us, up to this moment.

Slusho Truck Update, Bobbleheads and Brochures

A Slusho truck appeared at Comic-Con last July, and was giving out free drinks, and other surprises. Some people that were there are now receiving Tagruato swag in the mail. Imgur user narciee shows the unboxing of their package.

The return address of the package is listed as Tonopah, AZ, which was one of the stops of the Slusho Truck, and also the site of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.

Just like in the original Cloverfield ARG, the items were wrapped in a Japanese newspaper.

The package contained a Slusho Bobblehead, a certificate of authenticity, and a Tagruato brochure explaining the Cloverfield Energy Initiative (CEI). The brochure also mentions: Seabed Nectar (aka Kaitei No Mitsu), Quantum Biology, Exo-meteorology, centrifugal force-based artificial gravity.

Slusho Truck at Comic-Con 2017

Steve Zaragoza, from the Cloverfeels Podcast, spotted a Slusho truck outside of Comic-Con last week, handing out free drinks. #InGame

The truck displayed a new twitter account - @SLUSHOTRUCK - and based on some of the tweets, it appears to be driving around the country.

Slusho Makes Another Appearance in Fringe

Slusho! made another guest appearance on Fringe, in the latest episode "Momentum Deferred". However, in the world of Fringe, shape-shifting soldiers from another universe prefer drinking mercury to frozen beverages, even though Slusho itself is imbued with Kaitei No Mitsu!

Slusho! in Fringe Poster

J.J. Abrams' favorite frozen drink Slusho! has made another non-Cloverfield appearance, this time showing up in the season 2 poster for Fringe. The poster is filled with other Fringe-related Easter eggs as well. Slusho! was also seen in the show, in last seasons' episode "The Road Not Taken".

Slusho! appears in new Star Trek movie

Here is the scene from the upcoming Star Trek movie that shows the appearance of J.J. Abrams' favorite frozen beverage - Slusho! Star Trek opens nationwide March 7th.

BTW, if you haven't been following the Star Trek ARG discovered a few weeks ago, you should check it out. It already looks bigger than the Cloverfield ARG, incorporating real world clues (including a real alien crash site), interactive characters, and who knows what else is in store!!?!?!

Slusho! Will Appear In Fringe!

The latest batch of promotional photos for "The Road Not Taken" confirm that Slusho! will be making an appearance in Fringe.

The mysterious drink made famous by the movie Cloverfield, has also appeared in Alias, Heroes, and will be in the upcoming Star Trek movie as well.

Slusho! Themed Star Trek Enterprise

The official Star Trek website has a new section - The Enterprise Project - featuring models of NCC-1701 redecorated by various artists. One of the most interesting is Enterprise #12, the Slusho! theme by Bad Robot artist and animator Amy Vatanakul. All of the great Slusho! memes are represented, the Seabed Nectar, the Sword logo, "You Can't Drink Just Six", and of course all the fun Slusho! peope and critters. Nice work Amy!

Slusho! To Make Apperance In Fringe?

J.J. Abrams' sci-fi thriller FRINGE was shooting in NYC this weekend, and SmokeInTheCity captured this photo of John Noble drinking a Slusho!

Is this just some behind the scenes antics, or will the magical drink make an appearance in the show?

The Fringe episode being filmed is The Road Not Taken, which will air May 5th on FOX.

Cloverfield's Slusho In Star Trek

MTV Interviewed J.J. Abrams about Star Trek, and they revealed that Slusho! will be making an appearance in the upcoming movie!

MTV: I couldn't help but notice the Slusho! reference from "Cloverfield" in the bar scene where Kirk first meets Uhura. Will we see other J.J.-isms peppered throughout the film?

J.J. Abrams: No. That was sort of the only one, and it was just sort of a goof.

I09 reports that a monster similar to Cloverfield also appears in the trailer. Could it be Clover's long lost relative?

Hidden Slusho

In TJ Miller's video diary, he points out a Slusho! hidden in the graffiti "for the fanboys - wha what?". I checked this scene out in the movie, and this section of the wall is not completely visible, but you can see the very edge of it, especially if you watch the 1080P HD version of this scene.

I wonder what other hidden Mickeys are waiting to be found?

Slusho 'Sword' Update

There is a mysterious update to the Slusho website. A strange symbol, which looks like a sword and a quote balloon, is appearing on the main page, and on the contest page. I checked the site, and don't see any other changes, or anything else hidden in the flash files - so I don't know what to make of it. Let the wild speculation begin...

Slusho Laptop Prize

Austin was kind enough to send pictures of the Alienware laptop that he won in the Slusho commercial contest. He received the laptop yesterday, and had this to say: There was absolutely nothing Cloverfield-related included in the package, except the laptop cover (duh) and that everything was registered to Paramount and Bad Robot and stuff.

Tagruato has a new headline story. The secret ingredient used in Slusho, Kaitei No Mitsu or Seabed's Nectar, was approved by the "AFA" for sale in the US:

After much discussion, Yoshida revealed that kaitei no mitsu, the special Slusho! ingredient lovingly known as "Seabed's Nectar", had been approved by the American Food Association.

"Those lost at Chuai would be smiling this day," commented a choked-up Ganu Yoshida, "Tagruato stands strong against the evil of ecologist terror."

Tagruato can now proceed with their extensive American campaign for bringing Slusho! to the western world. In addition to the creation of three Western-only flavors, Slusho! representatives claim that many other surprises are in store for their new audience.

"This has been a dream of ours for a long time," smiles Slusho! Administrative Coordinator Mika Srauy, "We've already secured relationships with several prominent American distributors and are compiling our own Western-oriented marketing team."

The board applauded the news, thanking their friends in foreign lands for such strong support in troubled times.

So I got a job offer, and it's everything I wanted. More money, more power, more creative freedom. I'd even have up to five people working under me, and you know how much I've always wanted underlings. One catch -- I need to move to freakin' JAPAN! The job is the V.P. of Marketing and Promotions for SLUSHO! brand "happy drink." Apparently it's all the rage in Asia.
