We'll Miss You 1-18-08.com

Paramount removed the 1-18-08.com site today. The web page now points directly to the Paramount home page - http://www.paramount.com/

Hopefully this is just a temporary change.

UPDATE: It looks like you can still reach the site directly here: http://www.1-18-08.com/photos_8.swf

UPDATE 2: After going back up, and coming down again, it looks like the shutdown is over. A quick look at all the files reveals there were no changes to the code, so there doesn't seem to be any reason why the site was down.

"Fits and stops and starts. Waves and ripples and ramifications."

I got my eye on you Paramount!

  2. I'll take no news over bad news :(

Hopefully this isn't a bad sign for the movie.

It's pretty lame that they have it linking to the Paramount site. At least point it to the trailer site.

    Or here :)

  3. My thought was that they were updating the site or doing something that would cause it to be down (not really sure what would necessitate the site being down) and the server that hosts it defaults to Paramount's home page when the normal content isn't available for some reason.
Maybe it is just a stop-gap? Yeah, I know, wishful thinking.

  5. Where did you go, Nonya? :)

Well, before today, if you went to a page that wasn't there, it wouldn't forward you to Paramount.

That's how I used to check for new photos. The last photo was 1-18-08.com/images/pic_5.swf, so I would keep checking for 1-18-08.com/images/pic_6.swf

  6. Rats. Well, removing a website that raises interest in a movie, won't raise anymore interest in the movie. :o)

Maybe Paramount pulled the plug on the fun the way we think ABC pulled the plug prematurely on TLE.

    Hopefully it's temporary.

  10. This isn't my experience. In fact, if you go to the 1-18-08.com site and arrange the photos in order, one of the photos flips and has this message on the back:

Lascano, Platt and Robbie Jan 2008

    Robbie,
Here, use this photo to send a message of my hotness far and wide!!! I'm gonna miss the hell out of ya!!

    Love Jamie

Don't know quite what it means, but...

  11. In fact, the second photo in the sequence also has a message:

Don't forget who takes care of you!

    Love J

I don't know if this is old news, but it is news to me...

  13. chris, those messages were always on the back of those photos.

thxheynow, I really doubt there's a low hit count on that site

  14. It's back again.
Perhaps they've built in some new features? The flipping of the photos and the messages are old news. Look for some changes.

  15. Maybe if we find the folder or page that the website is stored on on the paramount website. Like now we know its hosted on the paramount page and when its down it links to there, maybe theres something to find on something like www.paramount.com/11808 or something

  17. Thanks TLC! Great video! Not related to Cloverfield, but super ARG info... ;)

I looked around, and there is a much better quality video on the Hi-Res website (Hi-Res is the company that built TLE sites):

  18. Well, we were wrong about the no change thing. 5 minutes after accessing the site, you hear the monster's roar.

  24. Holy schnickees that scared the crap out of my tonight! I 'discovered' this sound on my own before I jumped to the blog to announce my finding.. guess I'm a few hours behind! I had vista open with a number of web pages including 1-18-08 with my headphones on. I was quietly reading some cnn headlines and I nearly fell off my chair. At first I thought CNN was running some flash clip of 1-18-08 then I jumped to the blog and .... well the rest they say is history. As soon as I pick myself off the floor and take my heart out of my throat, I will go to be and have some nightmares. Thanks paramount! Note to self.... turn down volume on headphones!

  26. You know going back to this myspace clue with the pics .... has anyone been able to add any cast to their page? Has this question been asked or answered? The hundreds they added I would have to assume, whoever is running the characters pages added them at random before everything hit in July. Unless their friends of friends of some crew members or something. I mean has anyone contacted anyone added to the characters pages and asked them if they just approved them for an add or they were contacted?

  27. OMG!!! if you watch the trailer, just before the first monster roar you hear a woman say,"THEY LIVED."
