Cloverfield - Second Trailer Description

The rumors are true! The next trailer for Cloverfield WILL be shown before Beowulf.

Officially, the release date for Beowulf is Friday, but many theaters will be showing it Thursday around 9:00 pm, and some theaters will be showing it in 3D.

Alex at FirstShowing.net has already seen the new Cloverfield trailer, and has a pretty thorough description, including the official title of the movie - CLOVERFIELD.

Alex thinks the trailer will be available on Monday (I assume on Apple.com).

*Thanks to Bradley for emailing me about the clip on YouTube.

  1. Amazing. So the long awaited second trailer is finally confirmed. Maybe now I can get some sleep at night and not blow $8 Friday to see Beowulf. Thanks for the work Dennis.

  3. So everyone's gotta be pretty pissed about the name, right?

  4. well ever since it came out back in july its been called 1-18-08/Cloverfield/Slusho, since it never had an actual name, people just picked the one they liked, so really 1/4 are happy, 1/2 hate it, and 1/4 don't care

  5. Wow cool! I was having second thoughts about watching beowulf but maybe, I will. I just hope the trailer is included here in our country.

  8. I can see it now. The area on the sea floor where they are drilling is given the name Cloverfield by the drill operators because they were very "lucky" to find it (four leaf clover...get it?). So in actuality the Monster actually arrives from Cloverfield. If this is the case then I'm OK with the movie title.

  9. Found on YouTube

It's really bad copy, and seems to be cut off at both ends.

  10. I'm still vaguely hoping for an 11th hour swerve, but it's not exactly a disastrous development.

  11. ...Is that a shot of one of the smaller monsters at around the 45 second mark, or is the sheer fuzziness of the capture just really creepy looking?

  12. First off: OMG OMG OMG OMG!

Second: the quality sucks but you can still makes some things out.

Third: The smaller monsters were originally human. They have two legs and two arms. The have become "whales", or have been infected by a "parasite". The monster itself I have noo clue though, the video is too shakey and blurry. i can't even tell when they show it.

  13. Well, however you may feel about the name, at least it works out well for Dennis, right? ;) No new domain required. Cloverfield Clues lives on...

  14. So true... I agree with Dutch though. It seems like the same thing is goign on in I Am Legend as well. Sounds like everyone is taking a few hints from the Halo video games to me. (ie: the flood if you're familiar with the series.)

I'm just wondering how you can conclude a story like this when it's being shot with the handheld the whole time... And what the budget was for the film. I wonder if they just made the nice cameras look crappy, or if they really used personal cams.

  15. So, I love the scene of the SoL as they fly by.

Are they actually in the Helicopter... Thats cool. Army people must have picked them up. probably as evacuatory measures.

But it looks like high quality CG (unlike the SoL head that was thrown at them), so I'm looking forward to a amazing Monster.

  16. From the info indicated on Paramounts website the trailer should be 2:11 long. This trailer only runs for 1:03. At 34sec to 37sec there is the silhouette of a smaller monster attack where the shadow of the victim
and the attacker (with dorsal protuberance) can be seen. The shadow of the victim seems to grow larger after the attack. At approx. 45 sec we can see what appears to be a smaller monster with a red glowing eye and a mouth that looks like a lamprey's.

    did anyone else notice this?

  19. Euchre over at unfiction is doubting the authenticity of this. But that is definitely Hud's voice saying "people are going to want to see this".

  20. I think this trailer is real but not the final trailer we will see tomorrow. Do you really think they would show the trailer early and have the real title and all the details we've been waiting for? If they did that, everyone would know all about it before it was even officially released. I doubt they want to do that.

So, I'm basically saying that this trailer is Teaser #2 and not a Trailer.

The attacker in this shadow image is on the right and it has a segmented dorsal. After comparing the dorsal to a Lamprey Eel's it is a close match. The still @ around 45sec does show what looks like the mouth of a Lamprey Eel. The Lamprey Eel is parasitic. Anybody see what I see?

  26. Does anyone else notice the those red eye like things and the high pitch shrieking inside the chopper as it spins.Or are those just lights in the chopper?

  27. I agree with Tommy D in that, out of context, the title 'Cloverfield' seems pretty dodgy, but when we actually know more about the film, it is possible that we will be far more pleased with it.

If the trailer going around is accurate and the opening text stating a case designate 'Cloverfield' - then the title ought to hold relevance in the storyline.

Also sorry to be nit-picky, but dorsal is an adjective, the noun is dorSUM.

  29. ok, 1. this is F***ING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I will not spoil it for me as much as i already have by not seeing the trailer, it just builds up more suspense/ I can see it now......1-18-08.......itll be like a second christmas! and dutch masta, imnot being bi***y but i read the book and they are not zombies or anything like the flood, they are vampires, i highly recommend reading the book I Am Legend. You will see why its called that and its just a good 170 page book. cannot wait!

  30. Joe is absolutely right. I Am Legend is an excellent little story. Well worth the purchase. The movie tweaked it a little, it seems, but I'm sure it will still be a great flick.
Anyway, I can't make heads or tails of this new Cloverfield trailer. It's just too poor in quality. But I plan to see Beowulf with the wife this weekend anyway. So here's hoping the trailer is actually there.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OMG AWESOME!!! thanks dev'n for that trailer looks too cool :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. definitely a clear shadow of some two legged, two armed "mutated" beast of some sort attacking in the shadows at 1:04 into the trailer. thanks dev'n..amazing quality. beowulf here i come.

  38. Something tells me that everyone is gonna die.

It would make sense that the build up with these characters could be the hook for us viewers, then, in the film, we get an actual non-hand cam movie that references the hand cam footage to assess what initially happened, with the fate of the characters we've seen from the viral campaign still hanging in the balance.

In any event, I think this thing is still very Lovecraftian and that those smaller monsters are gonna be akin to Deep Ones.

  39. Bring on a better quality trailer link! WOO!

  40. Lovely, another Blair-Witch-esque shaky-handicam-fest. If they actually used some proper cameras for this it might have been good, but the prospect of almost having motion sickness for half of the movie (not to mention paying ten bucks to see it when the bootlegged version is going to look exactly the same anyway) is really sucking out my interest.

  41. Damn i want that HD trailer so bad!
Thanks Dennsi, aweseome work as always!

  42. Sorry to kill the little monster theory but the trailer only shows men in Bio-hazard suits grabbing a woman. Theres pictures of the suits on the cloverfield sites and they look identical to the shadow. Would of been a great addition to the movie but the trailer just didnt show that...
