Cloverfield Paradox to debut on Netflix TONIGHT after the Super Bowl
While the Cloverfield Paradox trailer said "Coming Very Soon", the Netflix iOS app says that Cloverfield 3 will be available TONIGHT, after the Super Bowl.
Not really no, the movie holds your hand the whole time. It's constantly explaining itself. I really didn't need the fan service in the last scene, I can watch the OG movie if I wanna see Clovie. I thought the cloververse was going to be a Twilight Zone esque anthology series, and was a bit disappointed.
That what i though the samething. That Cloverfield was a new Twilight Zone right after 10 cloverfield lane. It still feel the same way even the plot for the next movie sounds like a episode of Twilight Zone. But know I really think it's taken the work of H.P. Lovecraft. That crew open up the monster dimension & clovie is Cthulhu or like Stephen King book the mist
Did you guys read the 4 chapter manga that came out with the original Cloverfield, or read any of the interviews when the movie came out? JJ said he wanted Clovie to be the US version of Godzilla. Godzilla is sometimes the bad guy, but sometimes he's saving Japan. In the interviews, they also explained that the reason Clovie is "attacking" New York, is because he was just born, and they equated it to a baby calf that has a bunch of ants biting it. He was a baby, that's why he's stumbling and freaking out. That's why I expected 10 Cloverfield Lane was going to have Clovie. When it didn't I assumed it was just a matter of time. In the manga, you meet Clovie's mom, and how she dies. Clovie's mom has superpowers and stuff. That is what an adult Clovie is like. If you read the manga, it definitely looks like a more buff version than we got in the original Cloverfield, and looks identical to the one in Cloverfield Paradox. In the manga, Clovie's mom dies and releases her eggs into the ocean. In the end of the OG Cloverfield, you see something land in the ocean, and most people believed that to be Clovie, but I (and some others) believe, that's what caused Clovie to be born by hitting his egg. Now... there are hundreds of unborn Clovies in the ocean and Aliens, as we saw in 10 Cloverfield Lane. I believe the OG Clovie, now a grown up version, is going to have some of those powers and save us from all the threats that the Paradox released.
That was no fan service, that was their intention all along. Just a bigger picture, and we are getting pieces of the puzzle.
Quick review - it is The God Particle - however I found the multiple universe thing a but too much like FRINGE (JJ Abrams), but it is a good space movie - It leaves more unanswered questions (the worms, what is terrorizing Earth and others) keep us hanging. Good acting and good space scenes add to a plot that meanders at times. It does answer a few of the questions left open by the original Cloverfield. A decent movie on it's own - a few tie ins keep it int he cloverfield world.
The only thing Cloverfield related I thought was the end, but even then was thier pod landing on earth the same pod that you can see falling in the water in the original? Pretty sure it is but if that was the case the monster wasn’t on land yet. Timing thing maybe but was also a little disappointed. I may have to watch it again, maybe I missed something.
Heres the thing i do not think the thing we see at the end of this movie is the original cloverfield monster i think this some how some way takes place after that
I agree, this "invasion" takes place in 2028 and it seems that there are multiple Clovers and they are full grown, not infants like the one from 2008, which most likely got there from another paradox, maybe even separated from its parents, this full grown one is HUGE though! Even standing above clouds!
Is anyone as absolutely elated as I am right now? I mean...c'mon....all nit-picking and various critiques aside, this is HUGE for all of us... Sit back and enjoy! We've been so devoted to this world for so long that I'm putting everything to the side and just enjoying the "surprise attack" JJ and co. gave us, for all that it's worth. Yes points could be better, but a LOT could be worse....yes questions were "answered" (maybe not the way some wished)..but better yet, more were asked. Some might be upset, but at this moment, this long time devotee and ARG follower/contributor can't wipe the giant smile off his face no matter how hard he tries.... Here's to the next chapter! Who's with me???
I agree! Contrary to popular opinion I was disappointed with 10CL, Clover himself is my main enjoyment from this franchise and I was crushed when he wasn't in 10CL, so after that I set my expectations extremely low for whatever would come next as to not be disappointed. The trailer hit during the super bowl and I was overjoyed to see Clover being acknowledged. Even so I kept my expectations low just in case and was very content with what we were given. I feel that the "how" of how these movies are all connected has been answered, whether we get to the "where" these things came from or not remains to be seen, but even if we don't, after waiting so long I'm just happy that we even got what we got.
I had no idea that the websites were even updated. If you would of told me this morning when I woke up that a surprise cloverfield movie was going to be released today. I wouldn't have believed you in the slightest. It good to be back after for the third time and after ten years!
Okay, in trying to build a connection between the first Cloverfield, Cloverfield Paradox and Overlord, let’s assume the Nazis are behind this.
During WW2 as they’re experimenting and trying to find ways to have a clear advantage over the allied forces, the start dabbling in nuclear energy/physics/the occult, which we know Hitler was ALL about.
It could be possible that in experimenting with nuclear power they created a rift in space and time, calling forth the collision of two separate universes. And that’s is Ground Zero for the Cloverfield universe.
By doing so, they ripped Clovie out of its dimension while it was still a baby and, as we saw with the blonde scientist and Irish guy’s arm, you can kind of get stuck between objects unintentionally when crossing universes. So here the Nazi thought their experiments have failed and they move onto other methods (ei: super soldier serum, we know how he wanted to create a master race so that leads to the zombies in Cloverlord) meanwhile, they just imbedded a monster from an alternate dimension into the ocean.
Tagruato has some sort of connection here too. Were they supplying the Nazis with money for the experiments? Were they the ones pushing for them to work on ways to open up rifts in space and time? Either way, they let the Nazis believe they’ve failed and move forward to begin looking for the being they know had to have come over.
If it had manifested itself on land it would have been pretty obvious so they realize, OH! It must be in the ocean! And they begin building “oil rigs” to search for the monster they’ve lost. Eventually they find the monster, their experiments and drilling into it awaken it, giving us the attack we see in 2008.

I just finished the movie. I thought the last 30 seconds were awesome. I was thinking that their pod was from the original movie as well, but I guess the timing doesn’t ad up. The events taking place on earth are from the original movie though? I thought I read that this was supposed to be a prequel to the first movie.
Oh yeah I totally remember the manga! That was real deep into the original ARG. I never thought of that as Clovie’s Mom, I always just assumed it to be another, at that point full grown, Clovie. The powers of telepathy were really interesting in the manga and the creature then landing in the ocean was huge.
Again, I interpreted those last few frames differently than you. I assumed all the eggs were down there, implying that yes, there are multiple Clovies ready to be released I th the world at any moment. I think what we see at the end of TCP is a full grown Clovie like we see in the manga (which although I felt it was fab service it was TOTALLY bad ass!) BUT I don’t believe that is our OG Clovie.
If we take what the movie was talking about, how there is a multiverse’s worth of possibilities, ei: an infinite number of Earths, then the movie could have began on a different earth than we saw in 2008 Cloverfield.
I’ve been thinking of it like this, now that I’ve had time to let the movie sit with me. 2008 Cloverfield is Earth A, 10CL is then Earth B and TCP is Earth C/D. My reason for thinking this is we never get a mention of the 2008 baby Clovie attack in 10CL. You’d think Michelle and Emmet would have believed Howard more easily if they were like “Oh my god, is this like that 2008 attack on New York?” And in TCP, when her husband is screaming about “you’re letting her come back to those things?” I would assume, if they were on Earth A, he would have said something along the lines of “They’re back! Tell her they’re back and there are more of them and they’re bigger this time!”.
Sorry this got so long I’m just really excited to be able to discuss these movies again lol
I agree completely Jon, in 2028 multiple Clovers are released, with at least the one huge one, 2008 gets the dormant baby possibly thousands of years earlier that is then awoken by Tagruato, 2016 gets the alien invaders (which I believe are linked to the monsters in some way) and with this paradox concept, maybe even Kishin can be considered Earth E and essentially canon! And as far fetched as it is, the spiritual aspect that Kishin has with Earth E Clover could even qualify it as the demon that Mark Stambler alludes to but that's reaching pretty far lol even in spite of the spiritual aspect, I feel like the manga events could just be another dimension.
My theory so far (Overlord not included yet): Clovie monsters are a combination of human and worm DNA. The worms were in Volkov because the gyro materialized in him. The gyro materialized in Volkov because he was standing next to it when the accident happened. The maintenance ring ejected in the movie crashed in 2008 off of Coney Island with some of the worms on board. The captain was also on there and may have had some worms in him too. 10CL takes place on the second Earth. The war that is going on there is against the aliens, they never said they were fighting each other. I believe the aliens attacked them to stop them from using the collider. I also believe they shot down their collider. I believe Howard Stambler and Mark Stambler are the same person from two different dimensions. I believe the 2008 attack did happen in the same dimension as Paradox, but as it was 20 years ago, they are not talking about it. How many events from 20 years ago do we talk about today? The big Clovie is the original. He's had 20 years to grow while napping in the ocean. The Clovies woke back up on Earth 1 because of the Collider accident. So far the the questions I cannot answer are: What was trying to kill everyone on the station? E.X. the water with Tam, the JB weld attacking Mundy etc... What or who was controlling Volkov, or at least half of him? Anything having do do with Mundy's arm: How did it happen? How was the arm not only alive but sentient? How did the arm know the gyro was in Volkov? P.S. I loved this movie.
Hey Billy, I'm gonna dissect your theories with my theories. I find this a helpful tool to continue expanding on so many mystery boxes. I had to cut down the answers to try and explain my end of each of yours.
I do not agree and think the monsters are from another realm as per Stramblers interview (foreshadowing).
I think the worms may have been in him simply (as simply can be in Quantum astrophysics can be lol) because space and time are trying to meld together two realities. this is going to connect to an answer to a question below.
I agree the gyro materialized in Volkov because he was standing next to it when the accident happened.
The maintenance ring, This ones tough for me. The movie apparently start OR takes place in and around 2028 according to ARG content from the tagrato website. When the Maintenance ring is separated they are in reality two which seems to take place in 2028 as well as THAT realities cloverfield station crashed in the ocean. This would negate the idea that they are in the same reality as first cloverfield movie because they would theoretically be in 2028 in reality two. Unless in this reality two the beginning of life started ten years earlier making the crew the same age but in 2008 then it could be true, which it is totally possible with the concept of the paradox.
10CL takes place on the second Earth. Plausible. Hamilton is from the UK and this could very well be happening simultaneously with CLoverfield Paradox.
Jensen informs Hamilton that Shmidt betrayed them, the communications found and seen by Keil were from reality 2's Shmidt (jensens Shmidt), which confirm that in that reality he was planning on doing something (I will assume destroying it). I think the aliens got pull in from yet another reality where possibly they were battling us over the energy or something, but I almost think the aliens in 10CL are fighting the clovie's, which Micheal spills that there are multiple of them when he yells at the guy to tell them to not bring them back.
Howard & Mark. I disagree I think they are either siblings or cousins, some familial tie.
I believe the 2008 attack did happen in the same dimension as Paradox. Ill jsut start off with this. The Haulacuast, 9/11, Viatenam, Jesus, Ala. There is a list of thing WE all talk about that happened 20 years ago. The Paradox F's with space and time. Whos to say it isn't all happening at once? Time is just a way to keep our brains from exploding, and space obv. can be torn apart in this theory.
I did feel like Clovie at the end of Paradox was huge. But that scene does not convince me that this is the pod that falls in the first cloverfield. IF it is the original Clovie THEN that means the earth they go back to is not the same one, it would be a third reality.
The Clovies woke back up on Earth 1 because of the Collider accident. Can't deny or confirm this theory. my opinion is it didn't wake them up but was jut apart of "colliding" the realities together.
The Water I believed to be the alternate reality slipping into that station. the other station crashed in the water that room she was in was combining with the on in the water which made it flood. The metal attack on Mundy at first sight it looks to just be metal being pulled but then when it pulls him back it feels.. alive. that is a question still in my mind.
- What or who was controlling Volkov? He was talking to the alternate reality version of himself. He fused together with himself creating this "voice in your head" complex. it very well could be version two of him was near the worms and version one was near the gyro when the collider split up space and time.
Anything having do do with Mundy's arm: One of the most perplexing part to me as well.
Dont think i am crapping on your theories this is open dialog and open to rebuttals as well. THIS theory stuff is what I love most about this franchise!
CoryHarril I like sharing ideas. That's what makes it fun.
Loose parts of the station may have been scattered all across time and in multiple realities causing chaos, especially those worms. Distance from the Shepard Collider may be a determining factor as to when in time debris arrives. Not quite sure what may determine what reality the debris will arrive in. But anything in proximity to the Shepard should be affected. That is my primary premise. EX. the ring crashing in 2008 on Earth 1.
The ARG demonstrates that the Clovies have been in the bottom of the ocean for thousands of years. Also confirmed by J.J. Abrams. So whatever fell in 2008 was not Clovie.
The “clovie” worms could have been deposited in the Earth 1 ocean thousands of years ago. The aliens may also be a combination of human and worm dna, with a little more human than worm. They would have arrived somewhere in the Earth 2 reality thousands or millions of years ago.
In 10 Cloverfield Lane, when Emmett is telling Michelle about Howard, he tells her that she should "hear his theory on mutant space worms."
I like your insight on the water. Makes perfect sense. Now about that arm. "What are you trying to tell us, ARM?"
A little more, Yes, we still "talk about" the Haulacuast, 9/11, Viatenam, Jesus, etc, but they are not on the nightly news anymore. If there was a monster attack 20 years ago we wouldn't still see news from it on current TV unless there were some special after effects.
Schmidt 2 was not ordered to crash the station, just delay a positive result until Russia was out of the way.
There is so much to discuss. Let's have lots of fun with it.
And true about the News, it could show up but it would have to be a special occasion an anniversary or someone related to it dying.
So another weird connection I just thought of. Looks like someone else may have caught onto it. When Volkov is for lack of better words possessed, he goes and hold Tam and Schmidt at gun point and drops the name Chancellor Gerlach. who could have some connections to Nazi's and experimental science. Maybe he was possessed by someone in the upcoming Overlord film?
Also anyone notice the Newcasters the Crazy Lady in 10CL?
So the Clover monster at the end does look huge when in bursts thru what looks like clouds but there is also plenty of clouds above it still
I'm assuming what you see it burst thru is the spray that the aliens use in 10CL
Also the Asian chick that died in the water, I think it was her BF fault, they both realized that the ship needed to vent but while she was doin it manually he got the system running but didn't realize where she was .. like a freak accident like somebody standing to close to a jet when they kick on the engine
Gotta watch all the movies again, the clues Abrams leaves behind thru the internet and all those clover games low key gives me chills
I was listening to the Dynamic Banter podcast (a spin-off of the now defunct Cloverfeels podcast) and they had a similar theory and perhaps the creatures in 10CL were mutated space worms from the Sheppard. I didn't really take them saying it too seriously but it was a pretty cool connection, IF that's the connection they were hoping we would make.
So remember in with the arg for 10 cloverfield lane there was the picture that was sent via radio wave. It was the picture of earth the moon and this black thing above earth. I went back to look at it and it kind of resembles the ship in paradox. Maybe? What do you guys think?
Just finished it, I thought it was pretty disappointing. It didn't have the air of mystery that the previous two movies had.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Almost all of it was mystery... And Clovie coming back. Super good!
DeleteNot really no, the movie holds your hand the whole time. It's constantly explaining itself.
DeleteI do not agree and think the monsters are from another realm as per Stramblers interview (foreshadowing).
DeleteLoose parts of the station may have been scattered all across time and in multiple realities causing chaos, especially those worms.
A little more,
DeleteYes, we still "talk about" the Haulacuast, 9/11, Viatenam, Jesus, etc, but they are not on the nightly news anymore. If there was a monster attack 20 years ago we wouldn't still see news from it on current TV unless there were some special after effects.
Schmidt 2 was not ordered to crash the station, just delay a positive result until Russia was out of the way.
There is so much to discuss. Let's have lots of fun with it.
Maybe in delaying it it caused it to crash.
DeleteAnd true about the News, it could show up but it would have to be a special occasion an anniversary or someone related to it dying.
So the Clover monster at the end does look huge when in bursts thru what looks like clouds but there is also plenty of clouds above it still
DeleteI'm assuming what you see it burst thru is the spray that the aliens use in 10CL
Also the Asian chick that died in the water, I think it was her BF fault, they both realized that the ship needed to vent but while she was doin it manually he got the system running but didn't realize where she was
.. like a freak accident like somebody standing to close to a jet when they kick on the engine
Gotta watch all the movies again, the clues Abrams leaves behind thru the internet and all those clover games low key gives me chills
I loved seeing Clovie at the end!!! AHHHH I am so happy with it and so excited to listen to Dynamic Banter commentary on it!
ReplyDeleteBilly, I was just watching 10CL, and they mentioned a Conspiracy theory Howard has of Mutant Space worms.. Maybe Clovie is Space work.
ReplyDeleteI caught that too!

ReplyDeleteI was listening to the Dynamic Banter podcast (a spin-off of the now defunct Cloverfeels podcast) and they had a similar theory and perhaps the creatures in 10CL were mutated space worms from the Sheppard. I didn't really take them saying it too seriously but it was a pretty cool connection, IF that's the connection they were hoping we would make.
ReplyDeleteThey both could be worms, each mutated differently based on how much worm to human DNA each got.
DeleteSo the “clovie” worms would have been deposited on Earth 1 thousands of years ago.
DeleteAlso the “alien” worms arrived somewhere in the Earth 2 reality thousands or millions of years ago. (With time to grow into higher beings)
Just for reference, we can be Earth 0 where none of this happens.
So remember in with the arg for 10 cloverfield lane there was the picture that was sent via radio wave. It was the picture of earth the moon and this black thing above earth. I went back to look at it and it kind of resembles the ship in paradox. Maybe? What do you guys think?
