Tagruato Email from Vanessa Gwon
Tagruato, the parent company to Slusho, has begun sending out emails. Tagurato and Slusho played in big part in the Alternate Reality Game (ARG) for the first Cloverfield movie.
I'm still not sure what to make of all that Swamp Pop stuff, but this looks like the official start of the 10 Cloverfield Lane ARG.

Cloverfield ARG Comic By DJ Coffman
Artist D.J. Coffman has a new comic about "10 Cloverfield Lane", titled OMG! It's an A.R.G! which pretty well sums up the 10 Cloverfield Lane experience so far.
I especially like the hidden J.J. faces throughout :)
You can see the rest of the comic at his website Patreon.com

Swamp Pop Puzzle Pieces
The Swamp Pop store has be quietly sending out Cloverfield clues with recent orders, much like the Slusho store did for the first movie.
Anyone who placed an order at the Swamp Pop store recently might have received some mysterious puzzle pieces. These are the pieces I received with my order:
Folks at Reddit and Unfiction have been gathering the pieces together, and they appear to be from an Eiffel Tower puzzle...

Swamp Pop Website
In the "10 Cloverfield Lane" trailer, many bottles of "Swamp Pop" soda can be seen, and an empty bottle is even smashed against John Goodman's head. The soda appears to be a legitimate Louisiana brand since 2013, with the website DrinkSwampPop.com, plus facebook, twitter, and instagram pages to support that.
HOWEVER...
If you click on the BUY ONLINE! link, there's something a little fishy about their online store...

Cloverfield Sequel Is Official - 10 Cloverfield Lane
JJ Abrams has released a trailer for a Cloverfield sequel called "10 Cloverfield Lane". The trailer was shown for the opening weekend of Michael Bay's new movie "13 Hours". Interestingly, the original "Cloverfield" trailer debuted in front of another Michael Bay movie - "Transformers".
Not only has the sequel been secretly announced, apparently it has already been filmed and will be released on March 11. Let the countdown begin!
FYI, since this is a surprise for me as well, it will take me a little while to get into the full swing of things again. Please keep sending your tips to dennis@cloverfieldclues.com. Thanks!
Thanks to Ben, Nick and Eric for the tip!

Bad Robot Art Show at Gallery 1988
Gallery 1988 - the gallery that brought you the Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear LOST Art Show Fringe Benefits Project - had a new show on Friday to celebrate Bad Robot.
The "art experience" featured works inspired by J.J. Abrams' creations, including LOST, FRINGE, Star Trek, Super 8, Revolution, Alias, Felicity, and of course Cloverfield.
There was a lot of great Cloverfield art work, many of which is still available for sale at Gallery1988.com

Matt Reeves on Cloverfield Sequel: "You are going to see it"
Total Film recently caught up with Matt Reeves and interviewed him about the status of Cloverfield 2:
* thanks to I.V. Kay for sending this in!
We asked the Cloverfield and Let Me In director what was going on with Cloverfield 2, and he told us: "Well, you are going to see it - we just don't know when [laughs]."We've heard a similar story before... do you think this sounds like it might actually happen someday?
"At the moment we are talking about the story quite a lot. Drew Goddard, who wrote the original, is going to pen the sequel and JJ Abrams is very much involved.
"However, the three of us have been so busy that getting the right idea together has been taking a long time."
But will the sequel shoot in real-time again? "You see, that's a difficult part: we want it to be shot like the first but how can you continue that idea successfully for a second time?
"We have a lot of affection for the original and the sequel can't just be the same thing. But that is tricky when you need to have a monster destroying stuff once again."

Matt Reeves Won't Close The Door On Cloverfield Sequel
During his promotion of Let Me In, Cloverfield director Matt Reeves was recently asked by Collider and MTV if there will ever be a Cloverfield sequel, and he continues to give the same old story: they are still interested in making a sequel... "it's a priority". Just not anytime soon however, as both Reeves' and J.J. Abrams' plates are pretty full right now. Of course, that's exactly what you would expect them to say if they wanted it to be a surprise...!
FYI, Fast forward the video to 12:35 to get to the Cloverfield discussion.

Super 8 NOT Connected To Cloverfield In Any Way
Bad news Cloverfield fans... NY Magazine issued a retraction today after speaking directly to J.J. Abrams, confirming that his new movie Super 8 "has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloverfield". It seems a similar viral campaign may be used, but to reiterate, it "will be totally unconnected to Cloverfield".

Slusho Makes Another Appearance in Fringe
Slusho! made another guest appearance on Fringe, in the latest episode "Momentum Deferred". However, in the world of Fringe, shape-shifting soldiers from another universe prefer drinking mercury to frozen beverages, even though Slusho itself is imbued with Kaitei No Mitsu!

J.J. Abrams' favorite frozen drink Slusho! has made another non-Cloverfield appearance, this time showing up in the season 2 poster for Fringe. The poster is filled with other Fringe-related Easter eggs as well. Slusho! was also seen in the show, in last seasons' episode "The Road Not Taken".

Fan Made Cloverfield Videos
Last month, a fan-made Cloverfield video began making the rounds and picking up a little bit of "I don't think this is real, but..." coverage. We don't normally cover fake news, but yesterday, the second video from abcharu21 was released. This doesn't make it any more legitimate, but it does mean I will get a ton more emails wondering why I haven't posted these. So without further ado, I present to you "new" Cloverfield videos:

September 13
BTW, if you are looking for something real to do, there is an interesting Art ARG going on for LOST Season 6 at damoncarltonandapolarbear.com. The great folks at LOSTARGs.com have been following everything if you want to get all caught up.

JJ Abrams Mystery Box Edition of WIRED
The May issue of WIRED magazine recruited JJ Abrams as the guest editor. A year in the making, the "Mystery Issue" features a one-issue redesign directed by JJ, with mind-boggling puzzles on almost every page and hidden clues "that are not apparent at first or second glance."This means that while many of the articles and puzzles are available online, you will need to get the magazine to get the full Easter egg experience.
Either way, be sure to check out the JJ Abrams article on mysteries and spoilers (spoiler alert: spoilers are bad, mkay?), and the "between-the-pages" interview below.
By the way, the "Mystery Box" on the cover refers to a very funny speech that Abrams gave at the TED conference in March 2007.

Slusho! Themed Star Trek Enterprise

The official Star Trek website has a new section - The Enterprise Project - featuring models of NCC-1701 redecorated by various artists. One of the most interesting is Enterprise #12, the Slusho! theme by Bad Robot artist and animator Amy Vatanakul. All of the great Slusho! memes are represented, the Seabed Nectar, the Sword logo, "You Can't Drink Just Six", and of course all the fun Slusho! peope and critters. Nice work Amy!

Is there a new Star Trek ARG?
I get a lot of emails about movies, especially if they are J.J. Abrams related. One of the latest featured photos from some Star Trek "dance" parties taken by TheCobraSnake. I'm not much of a Trekkie, but I am a J.J. Abrams fan, so this looked like something I should check out ;)

Anyways, one of the first few photos I looked at had a weird URL written on it. It doesn't look natural (like it is photoshopped or something). Hmmm....

The address - http://0100001101100001.eu - takes you to a weird flash site with static and flashing images and weird sound.

I looked through the other Star Trek party photos, and found two other images with URL's in them:

The two other URL's I found - http://0100000101101100.eu and http://01001111.com, have very similar (or the same?) flash websites.
This could be a CobraSnake thing (gamejack?), but since the photos are Star Trek related, I was thinking it could be for a Star Trek ARG? Does anyone know anyting about this? I googled it, but wasn't able to find anything about it... Just in case, I started a new thread over at Unfiction if you want to investigate it further, or feel free to discuss it in the comments...

Slusho! To Make Apperance In Fringe?
J.J. Abrams' sci-fi thriller FRINGE was shooting in NYC this weekend, and SmokeInTheCity captured this photo of John Noble drinking a Slusho! Is this just some behind the scenes antics, or will the magical drink make an appearance in the show?
The Fringe episode being filmed is The Road Not Taken, which will air May 5th on FOX.
[source: FringeTelevision.com]
FYI, Slusho! made several appearances in Heroes, thanks to J.J. Abrams' friend Greg Grunberg.

J.J. Abrams at Wondercon on Cloverfield Sequel
J.J. Abrams spoke at the Wondercon Star Trek panel, and answered a fan question about Cloverfield. Take it for what it's worth, but it sounds like the same old story* to me:
We have an idea that we thought was pretty cool that we’re playing with, which means there will be something that’s connected to Cloverfield, but I hope it happens sooner rather than later because the idea is pretty sweet. If there ever was going to be a sequel, now would be the time to start it, and release the trailer during Star Trek in May. They wouldn't even need to film the whole movie - just the trailer, like they did with Cloverfield.

Cloverfield's Tagruato in Star Trek Superbowl Commercial
J.J. Abrams dropped another nod to Cloverfield in the latest Star Trek commercial seen during the Superbowl*. The Tagruato logo can be seen on one of the buildings, while J.J. Abrams' name flashes on the screen.
This is the second Cloverfield / Star Trek crossover. We reported earlier that Cloverfield's Slusho! will also be making an appearance in the movie.
Thanks to Evan, Marcus, and Matthew for emailing me about this!
* That's right, I said Superbowl, and not "The Big Game"! Superbowl. Superbowl. Superbowl. Suck it NFL!
