Behind the scenes on the Slusho set

Manuel tipped me off to a video, which by itself is a little random - people running, military vehicles. But if you notice in one of the shots, there is a Sephora store.

LiveJournal user 1-18-08 found some pictures by Eric Richardson on Flickr, who lives in Los Angeles. He has various pictures of "Filming Notices" by various studios, one of them being Paramount for a movie called Slusho! The notice mentions military vehicles, and 200 extras. The other picture taken at the same time? A fake Sephora store.

  1. I think the little movie has to be a scene being shot for the movie, but it seems wierd that after all the hush hush they'd be this open about the shooting of the movie. I figured they'd keep trying to keep the details secret

  2. If your filming in the middle of NYC, it's hard to be hush hus.

  5. Theory:
This video was put up by Paramont or JJ to confuse us more or throw us in the wrong direction... Maybe they're all in on it.

  6. It's just a video made by someone on the night they were filming something for Cloverfield.

On a slightly different note. Has anyone done any digging around www.ny1.com ? This was the news channel featured in the trailer.

  7. that was created back in 1995. Can anyone confirm that that is a real news company and they just paid to use the name?

  19. Iv'e found something intresting.

I noticed that that the slusho history has alot of (.) and (-) in it.

So I decided to make a morse code.
I spaced at each page and i got this:

    .-.. --.. -.-- --- Which is LZYO
I went to www.lzyo.com, which brought up a forum website in japenese (I think).

SO check it out and tell me what you think. Is it real?

  21. www.1182008.com can't be affiliated with the movie. It was created on the 14th of July, 2007. Well after the hyp had already begun.

  22. stephen: that's irrelevant. during the "experience" last year, many sites were continuously created as time went on. the origin DATE of the site has no relevance in whether it's legit or not. you really have to simply see what it's linked to instead.

there were many fake sites last year, too. it will all play out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ....oh and not saying it IS legit. i'm just saying you have to have more than a date to say it's not.

  25. Shedar, Caph and Gamma Cass are all stars;

SHEDAR (Alpha Cassiopiae). The southernmost star of Cassiopeia's famed Chair, Shedar is also the brightest, though not by much and not all of the time. (The strange variable star Gamma Cassiopeia can on rare occasion vault itself well beyond Shedar's apparent brightness.) The name "Shedar" comes directly from the Arabic word for "breast," and describes the position of the star in the heart of the ancient Queen.

CAPH (Beta Cassiopeiae). At mid second magnitude (2.27) and just barely the second brightest star in Cassiopeia, almost but not quite as bright as Shedar (the Alpha star), Caph, the Beta star, stole its name from the whole "W" of the constellation. The five stars of the "W" splay out like the fingers of a stretched hand, the name "Caph" coming from an Arabic phrase meaning "the stained hand," which refers to an ancient cosmetic coloring by henna

GAMMA CAS (Gamma Cassiopeiae). High overhead in northern autumn evenings lies the W- shaped constellation Cassiopeia, in mythology the Queen and mother to Andromeda, to us brilliant against the background of the Milky Way and fully circumpolar from most of the United States and all of Canada. At the center of the "W" lies our star. It stands out in that, oddly, it is among the brightest stars in the sky that carries no proper "western" name, though known as Tsih (the whip) in old China.

  26. Just an Idea...

Lyzo... referenced at http://www.tijsat.tu.ac.th/issues/1997/no1/1997_V2_No1_7.PDF mentions "safely used up to lzyo without any ill effects"

One of the characters at Slusho.jp "shouts out" slusho zoom, web site there references "Using Karyotypes to Predict Genetic Disorders" and "Cholera Vaccine,"

I went to wikipedia, which revealed that Cholera is caused by Vibrio cholerae, which "occurs naturally in the plankton of fresh, brackish, and salt water"

Naturally, with the inclusion of the movie poster, what ever this movie is about "should" deal with a creature that has "roots" in the water...

Concerning what others have commented so far. It might be possible that this monstrous creature might have the capability to swim, walk, and fly... some fish have the ability to be air born, some birds can swim, and there are various other land-sea, land-air animals...

Wouldn't it be interesting to have a creature that can swim, walk, fly, and have three distinct heads...

Revelations speaks of a monster with multiple heads...

    just a thought...

  27. Not just revelations, Judaism speaks of the beasts of the sea (leviathan), of the land (behemoth), and the air (Ziz) - go type them names into wikipedia for the info.
Someone on another JJ Abrams/Cloverfield site matched these up with incidents in the teaser - the initial earthquake (Behemoth), the explosion from the direction of the water (leviathan) and the Statue of Liberty's noggin flying through the air (Ziz).
So maybe its not one beast, but 3.
I cant take credit for this theory, but it sounds quite cool

  28. I checked the www.1182008.com site, and compared it to the html for the www.1-18-08.com site. Don't know if it matters, but the www.1182008.com page was built in Frontpage ( meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document" ) and the www.1-18-08.com was not. Also, to me Frontpage doesn't seem like the type of software that a marketing campaign like this would use.

  29. Here's what I've been mulling over on this. There's referenceing to Cassiopeia in this, which, in looking back on greek mythology, she was an aloof queen who was punished by Poseidon and was to be destroyed by the Kraken (a.k.a. the Leviathan). Perseus arrived, though, and defeated the creature. Some tales say it was locked away deep in the sea until needed again. So, my theory is that this is potentially a retelling of the Greek myth of Persues and his slaying of the Kraken. Here, Rob takes on the part of Perseus(who is the Guardian), and is involved in destroying this creature, which, provided the slusho stuff and the oil company site all work out, we unleashed and let loose. Comments?
