NOT Monstrous!

JJ Abrams gave a quick speech after the "Cloverfield" trailer was played at Comic-Con, then quickly left. Alex Billington from FirstShowing.net provided a transcript:

“I want a monster movie, I've wanted one for so long. I was in Japan with my son and all he wanted to do is go to toy stores. And we saw all these Godzilla toys, and I thought, we need our own monster, and not King Kong, King Kong's adorable. I wanted something that was just insane and intense. It's almost done shooting and I watch dailies and I'm more excited for them than the trailer, which has had an overwhelming response. We have 6 months before this comes out. We're going to have a whole bunch of things, a whole bunch more." He said a full trailer, more clips, full posters, and much more will be coming out over the next 6 months, including the name, which he will NOT reveal today.

You think we'd call it Monstrous? No…"

Well that's it... the Paramount panel is over! No more news :(

6 more months to go!

  1. Interesting...

I wonder why the word appears on the original poster pics though. It doesn't seem fitting to have a single descriptive word on the top (title) portion of the poster...

  2. Pretty light on much info. Maybe he's saving it for later when he comes back for Star Trek...

  3. G4TV just did there own bit on the Paramount panel and didn't even give Cloverfield Project a mention... I used to think they had their finger on the pulse of the nation, but I guess they don't... lol:)

  7. Yes, the claw marks are intruiging!

OT: The Beowulf trailer listed in the panel Q/A report looks interesting too, but then I'm a total Viking lore geekette. http://www.beowulfmovie.com/

  8. Harry Knowles at Aint It Cool News says the Monstrous poster is part of a 3 teaser poster campaign that will ultimately lead to the theatrical poster. He says the words used are MONSTROUS, BARBAROUS and FEROCIOUS. This multiword poster campaign has been used in the past in movies like Star Wars and Harry Potter.

  10. As far as those three adjectives go can anyone figure out any combinations of the words. They all have the same number of letters and they all end in OUS so maybe OUS has something to do with it or maybe the other letters are a jumble of the title or something . . .

  11. Also, it was said before that Paramount bought www.themonstrousmovie.com. Can anyone find out if they bought www.theferociousmovie.com or www.thebarbarousmovie.com ?

  12. Harry Knowles suggests that the title might be Colossus in his last post... (that you should ask Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin [aka Colossus of the X-men] if you want to know the title.)
