Whistle Blower Message #3 - Sonar

New messages began appearing in email boxes, with one of the following images attached - sonar_1.jpg and sonar_2.jpg. There is no note or message attached.

It looks like some kind or sonar image, but of what? Was this the first detection by Tagruato of the monster?

Click here to see the two images overlapped and animated.

Click here to see the "difference" of the two images.

It looks like it is a screen shot of a Tagruato computer, based on the Tagruato wallpaper in the background. The program that appears to be running is titled "Tagruato Son-air Bld.18 Rev 1a", and has various tabs, some marked in Japanese, and shows a date of 12/18/07. The status bar of the first image says "Occ. Det. ANO 0012433. Monitoring...", and the second image says "Occ. Scale. ERR. 163".

  5. BLOOP!

I blame TIDOWave for interfering with the delicate balance in which Tagruato kept everything. So much for the radical group's righteous infiltration.

  6. My guess is, too, that it wasn't Tagruato's fault but TIDOwave's fault.

  9. My bad. While watching the gif i noticed whatever it is is spread out all around. I have no idea what it could be. Will we need someone versed in sonar to help? And yeah, it seems Dec.18th was the day it happened.

  10. Hey, can anyone see if the coordinates (down right) leads anywhere? Is it at the Chuai Station or somewhere else??

  11. Nothing in google earth, though I admit I'm not an ace at the program.

  15. sorry for x2 post BUT it also looks like a themomitor and a inter signal? but yea just wondering

  16. Hey, the coordinates shown at the bottom right are very different in both pics... but the image doesn't seem to move a lot... is that right?

    ReplyDelete
  17. The image doesn't move because the monster retains it's shape, they're only tracking it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. if the x and y are coordinates then that means it must have moved a crap load of distance in a short amount of time, faster than whatever was tracking it could move anyways

Led me to look up Revelation 18:1.

  21. I'm not a GPS/mapping expert, but a little looking indicated that Google Maps uses WGS84 coordinate systems for Lat/Long data. For systems that use X,Y coordinates like these images, there is a conversion process that needs to take place to get the correct Lat/Long to really show anything in Google maps. I don't have time to dig too much at the moment and math isn't really one of my stronger points! But perhaps someone can take this information and correctly calculate the Lat/Long these images were supposed to originate from.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think at all that X, Y coordinates have ANYTHING to do with the real earth coordinates.
No one measures stuff like that in X, Y.
And they are DEFINETELY not tracking the monster around a planet - it's the same place shown on both images.
I think X, Y actually show the place where cursor of the mouse was at the moment when the screenshots were taken (launch your Paint application in Windows and see the status bar while moving the mouse across the canvas - it shows the coordinates of the cursor).
You can see the system axes on the screenshots.

SON AIR... That's French. It translates to "His Air" or "It's Air".
What about TIDOWave? Le Bandit Vert, is it not? He's French too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey guys i think joe is right and it is son air which is weird.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Actually, some systems do use X,Y coordinates. This is based on a grid system of the earth like UTM. There's copious amounts of data on this on Google.

    http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=lat+lon+x+y+coordinates&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

I'd be surprised if they put coordinates into the image that they fed to the ARG crowd that meant absolutely nothing. They likely correspond to Chuai station or somewhere between there and NYC.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Going back to the French thing for a second- add an "E" to Son Air and it's Son Aire, which means Its Area. But to what does the area belong?

we need to know what the symbols onn the bottom-right mean. Especially the one that CHANGES its value between images.
That could be actually Height of the measurements. And if that's it, joe was right. it could be the same thing at the same time but on different levels - pictures taken by Hatsui.

Maybe the coordinates mean something but for some reason i'm absolutely sure that the 'thing' does not move between 2 pictures.
Maybe they show the point on the picture (in its system of coordinates) where the maximum amount of RED is? :)

  41. It's the monster. It's stuck under something, it looks like.. like it's entire lower half is covered. look at the pic that is just black, with the "sonar" image showing.. You can see the right protrusion looks like a clawed hand.. hold on, i'll try to upload it..

    http://i15.tinypic.com/8brupma.gif

I might be grasping at straws, but I think this is good ol' Chuai Monster, folks. Keep in mind it's in the mid atlantic ridge, it could be caught under the edge of a tectonic plate.. that's just my hypothesis.

it might just be a piece of rubble or dust, but the top, it looks like part of the monster, maybe a tail?

  45. off shore oil companies use sonar in order to locate oil deposits on the sea bed. so these images could very possibly be of the deep sea nectar.

also, after i googled one of the coordinates on one of the images and it gave a location in new york. 119-16 135th ave, south ozone park, ny. its not that far from where rob's apartment is. could this be where beth lives and they need to go to rescue her?

  46. Has everyone forgotten that there's gonna be smaller monsters? It's the big one and the small ones, hence why it looks spread out.

    Or... not.

  47. SON AIR... That's French. It translates to "His Air" or "It's Air".

HAWK: The air caught on fire

and that could be detecting heat so maybe the dark spots are fire?

    ReplyDelete
  48. does anyone think this could possibly be the tagruato oil tanker that was headed towards new york?

    ReplyDelete
  49. after seeing the latest tv spot i believe this SON AIR has something to do with the air.

    like Randy said:

Hawk: "The air caught on fire"

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think its the Chuai Station, when i sent him the E-mail i asked about the Chuai Station and thats when he sent me Sonar_01.png so IT IS SONAR just to be completely clear.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wow. Not since the DaVinci Code have so many unrelated and relatively unimportant ideas been sewn together so enthusiastically.

Son-air is probably just the fictitious name of the fictitious software the fictitious Tagruato Corporation uses at its fictitious drilling stations. It's not French. It's not Japanese. Just a make-believe trademark for computer software, of which they currently use Revision 1a of Build 18. Hawk's dialog in C#7 concerning the air on fire is just him freaking out, because he's justifiably terrified of what he has just witnessed (most likely a violent military engagement of the monster that didn't go too well).

It's a blob on a sonar screen. It could be anything. Solving what it should be is not the point, it's just another piece of the background story to suggest that "something" is out there, and to ramp up the anticipation.

  53. Adam, the fun of this viral marketing thing isn't to assume that everything isn't as it is, the fun is trying to figure out what actually is. So I guess we could call it a monster and wait for Cloverfield to hit the theatres.... But we could also try to piece together as much as possible before 1-18-08.

Reading back on what I just wrote, it makes no sense whatsoever. But the point stands!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agreed!

I'll be there on Jan. 18th wearing my Slusho! hat. I'd bring along a TIDOWave survival kit too, but sadly no one seems to have put any energy into solving that puzzle they gave us several weeks ago. If the goal is to piece together as much as possible, I'm surprised that huge clue has gone mostly ignored.

  55. Ok im really exicted now, I might just be making to much out of this but after seeing these two pictures and reading the post above, I think that we might of seen the monster already.

Igoduki showed this picture of the sonar and at fist i was like, no hes justs think to hard

    http://i15.tinypic.com/8brupma.gif

But then when I relooked at this picture from the trailer

    http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o76/yomamofo/c1sc7.jpg

It looks like thats the monsters head and arms and its moving in the left direction (of your computer screen). Now im in a rush so I can check out the trailer but it looks like a head and claws to me. Now Im probably just tired and thinking crazy but hey if im right, you heard it here first.

  57. Hey Rosario, it's actually moving towards the right side of your computer screen, not the left! Check this gif file animation I found of the same thing you found, but its moving to the left, you can see its leg lift up to keep walking forward! This clip is awesome, it almost looks like a hermit crab!

I wouldn't click on the link unless you want to see part of the monster although its hard to make out.

  59. HOLY CRAP!!!!! That's great..wow

    ReplyDelete
  60. If we assume that it's the monster on the sonar screenshots, well then what...? is it gonna wander around the ocean for the next 18 days til it finally finds itself in new york? i think during 18 days it would have been noticed not only by tagruato sonars but all other sonars in the world :)

i think that still could be nectar. some cute little turtle would drink too much (more than 12 big cups) and become a huge (whale) monstrous tutrle

    ReplyDelete
  61. guys/girls
don't forget that IF this is something around the Chuai station, then it can't be oil

TheWhistleBlower wrote that Tagruato knew there was no oil in the place where it was built - it had some other purpose

    ReplyDelete
  62. I know most of us have already written it off, but given the widget and the new commercials popping up, I really think the capsized tanker plays a bigger role than we're acknowledging. The theory that it was transporting the monster could hold some weight. Those beasts are enormous; they're quite literally floating cities. A tanker could conceivably carry a sedated creature of the size alluded to in the trailers.

It's all hearsay at this point, of course. But as long as we're giving all the other theories this much thought...

    ReplyDelete
  63. i never considered it blurboy. but that sounds alright i guess. but wouldn't the monster be too big for an oil tanker? its as tall as the empire state building

    ReplyDelete
  64. what if....it started out small....and then it grew, really fast....causing the tanker to exploed...and the whole time...the monster just keeps growing...until its the size we see......

    ReplyDelete
  65. That probably makes sense.... The mutagen in the nectar just continues nonstop, which is why Marlena is expanding....

    ReplyDelete
  66. i dont think anyone new about the monster before the attack.

the saying "something has found us" wouldnt apply then, cause if you find something doesnt it find you to. Expecially if your transporting it on a tanker.

    ReplyDelete
  67. ok...but who is the 'us' that the tagline indicates? Humans? US Citizens? Who I Ask! Who! haha

    ReplyDelete
  68. i bet its the loch ness monster =D

    ReplyDelete
  69. Now, i wish people would just stop exploiting 'french' here.
First of all, Son Air does not mean "It's Air" in french.
Second, it may mean 'his air', 'her air' or 'its air' - any of those.
And finally, 'son' means 'sound' in french and THAT is why it's in the 'sonar' word.

Too many forced arguments for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Is it weird that it looks like the same sonar img near the beginning of the American Godzilla movie where Godzilla attacks the Japanese ship???

    ReplyDelete
  71. Whoops, sorry. Didn't mean to put in an apostraphe when I wrote "its"....

And "son" has a duel meaning.
    1. A masculan or impersonal determinant.
    2. Sound.
    "Air" means:
    1. Air.
    2. Area (aire).

And we can't overlook French translations. After all, the leader of TIDOWave is French. "Le Bandit Vert".

    ReplyDelete
  72. Son is masculan for masculan nouns. 'Air' is a masculan noun that is why we use 'son' there, but it may also mean 'her air'. :)
I've been thinking about your version but there's just too many strains. Do u think that the leader of TIDOwave has something to do with Tagruato's software? :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. On the other hand, i, myself, don't have any fresh versions at all %))) so yours is better than mine.

    ReplyDelete
  74. An update on TIDOwave's site!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. well, the fact the monster is obviously bipedal kind of knocks out the theory it's a whale...doesn't it? Perhaps Tarugato and Tidowave have actually been experimenting on creatures, people, or everything with nectar. I believe the sonar might be the remnants of the station, or maybe something near the station.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Couldn't this sonar image actually represent a sound?

I know from having read The Hunt For Red October that there are two types of sonar. Active sonar uses an emitted sound wave to record what bounces off an object, as far as I know actually giving you a rough image of an object.

Passive sonar essentially just listens and then visually displays those sounds for the operator to examine. Can anybody determine if those images could be sound waves?

I suspect that it probably is an active sonar given that the bottom of both pictures has a tab that says "PNG" which could mean ping, or the act of sending out a sound wave to record its reflections. But then that would have to mean that whatever recorded that image would have to be relatively close to, and within line of sight of the object.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Sorry organicgrower, PNG is just an image file format like JPEG or TIFF.

And AFAIK, passive sonar is more like what you'd see in U571...no visual, just an audio station that allows examination of sound and it's point of origin. It's been used before to actually detect deep sea sounds that cryptozoologists hypothesize are actual Benthic behemoths.

Active sonar is essentially digitized echolocation.

    ReplyDelete
  78. When you look closely, it's actually an image of Manhattan
