The Clue Hunt Contest for Photo #2 is over. The correct answer was CORNBREAD - which is what Jamie Lascano told her boyfriend Teddy Hanssen was the answer he got wrong in JamieAndTeddy video #2.
The secret word was not hidden in the picture itself, but in the properties of the photo. Viewing the photo's properties in Photoshop, Picasa, or even Windows would have revealed the message: The secret word is "cornbread".
Today's Top 5:
#1 - Sajid Anwar - 0:05 (1/2)
#2 - Theos - 0:47 (2/2)
#3 - Dan Glitch - 1:45 (1/2)
#4 - Francisco J. Marquez (2/2)
#5 - Sly Text - (2/2)
Needless to say, there were a lot less correct answers today. The leader board has reflected that, and we have a new overall leader:
#1 - Theos
#2 - Jeremy Pinkham
#3 - Sly Text
#4 - Francisco J. Marquez
#5 - Marcus Reynolds
The next photo, #3, is already up.
The Kishin Caption contest is still going strong. There are almost 50 entries! Check them all out here, and leave a positive comment on the ones you like as an informal vote. (Please don't leave any negative comments. Thanks!)
Don't forget you can also enter the DVD giveaway, if you haven't already done so.
O.K., that wasn't fair cause I use firefox and did not show anything about cornbread and after looking at the screenshot which is for explorer, I can see the comment for cornbread under the summary tab after clicking properties but when I do this I have no tab for summary in properties. What gives? I do have the latest version of IE and its 7. Is this at all fair? Sorry, just a cloverfield fan.
ReplyDeleteaw man i'm going blind trying to figure this one out. i got the last one right away but i can't get this one and i know i'm gunna kick myself when i see what it is lol
ReplyDeleteAm i the only one finding this one hard? But i'm not gonna give up!
ReplyDeleteGeorge, he didn't say anything about browsers. He said Windows which I believe he added when he updated the photo. I have Firefox as well, I saved the file twice (once after the update) and checked the .JPG file properties on both. Voila, cornbread.
ReplyDeleteRyan, yes you probably will kick yourself.

ReplyDeleteFair? LOL.
BTW, Internet Explorer (IE) is not the same thing as Windows Explorer. I use Firefox too...but you can't see the photo's EXIF properties in IE or Firefox. You have to save the file, then view the properties using Windows, or just about ANY photo editing program - Picasa, Photoshop, iPhoto(?) etc...
I can't handle this one. I've already spent at least a half hour on this. I have a couple of areas I think it could be, but I can't put together the letters, so I'm probably totally wrong. Oh weeeeeel.
ReplyDeleteNo "hint" like photo#2 had?
ReplyDeleteI think that there should be some kind of hint-riddle with each pic, it would make it a pinch easer and more fun then just playing with the photo's color and looking for hidden file names.
ReplyDeleteIs there like a picture on the bottom right hand corner of the picture that's up now?
ReplyDeleteHere's a hint. Think of what you are really looking for, not what you think you are looking for.
ReplyDeleteI'll say this.. I'm not going to do the same thing twice in a row, so it's not something in the file properties - you have to look at the photo this time.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: Bottom left corner I mean.
ReplyDeleteJames, don't give Dennis any ideas.
ReplyDeleteThe word is NOT "missing".
ReplyDeleteIn the link it stands "SAW" is that the word?
im seriously struggling on clue 3.... i did just fine on the last two but this one has me stumped....
ReplyDeleteNo that belongs there, it's a window or something. I think I see Godzilla.. ^^
ReplyDeleteto billy wallander:
ReplyDeletei think we are looking in the same place. unfortunately, i can't quite read it. i sent my best guess and the location of the words in my entry. hopefully, dennis will read through the whole email, and open the picture attatched...
Has anyone gotten it yet?
ReplyDeleteJust remember people, this is supposed to be fun...
ReplyDeleteI've had lot of people emailing me that the word was "missing", because the "alt text" for the image was blank, and if you right-click it in Firefox, the "alt text" said "missing".
It is NOT "missing", so I added some text to the "alt text" which says "The secret word is NOT ''missing''!", but now people think THAT is the clue, and have been emailing me that "NOT" is the clue, or "LOST" or "FOUND" is the clue. Just to be clear, it has nothing to do with the "alt text" or file properties... you need to look at the image to solve this clue.
Zaggs, do you know the word?
ReplyDeleteJason said... Has anyone gotten it yet?
ReplyDeleteYes, several people.
Can you give a clue ??
ReplyDeleteDo you have to do something with the picture or just look at it?
ReplyDeleteaww.. i think it has something to do with the fire, there's an extra fireball.. at least it's not exactly like in the trailer.. mhh..
ReplyDeletei can't be that hard.. i mean, a word in the picture? what's wrong with us? ^^
I think this idea is very funny. I have many problems to understand all this because I'm Spanish and my english is very bad, but I will keep playing this game and trying to find the words. I think I have found the 3 words until now. This last one was very hard to find.
ReplyDeleteBye!
dennis, how many more pictures are you going going to post?
ReplyDeletebilly_wallander said... Can you give a clue ??
ReplyDeleteI can't really give any more hints without making it too obvious.
I get the feeling you all are going to hate me after this contest ;)
Jared said... it can't be that hard.. i mean, a word in the picture? what's wrong with us? ^^
It's supposed to be hard. That's why there are two other ways to win... the Caption Contest, and the giveaway.
Charlie said... dennis, how many more pictures are you going going to post?
I'm planning on posting a new photo every day until Sunday, when I'll pick the winners... so four more?
I think this is the best of the 3 so far, I was thinking about it all day and I only just got it, very clever.
ReplyDeleteif we look at it and realize we sent in the wrong answer, can we send in another answer?
ReplyDeletedo we have to change anything in the picture? some contrast or whatever? or is it possible to see the word just like that?! ^^
ReplyDeletehope thats not too much to ask?!
Uhg I'm stumped - trying to figure out what Zaggs said "Think of what you are really looking for, not what you think you are looking for." I know the "NOT 'missing'" is definitely not a clue - I've tried looking into the fire for something, played with the brightness/contrast...blah!
ReplyDeleteI feel stupid...I have messed with contrast, brightness, gamma, rotation, sharpness, color negativity...I'm completely stumped. I might even venture to say this has crossed over into the "not fun" category (although it is, I'm just mad I can't get it).
ReplyDeletealright..
ReplyDeleteDennis, is it one word or two?
and also i entered 3 caption entries but i cant find them up there?

ReplyDeleteYes.

No, No, Sort Of

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
jakee said... alright.. Dennis, is it one word or two? and also i entered 3 caption entries but i cant find them up there?
One word, four syllables (not that it will help you).
Also, I only post new captions entries once a day.
i think i see it..
ReplyDeleteI still haven't found the word. It's probably right in my face and I don't even see it! ahh!
ReplyDeleteI found a bit where it looks very doctored - but I can't make my brain form words out of it.
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm not going crazy staring at pixels that are just coincidentally sharp!
